I took a beanie out of his closet. I really wish I didn't have to, but his hair would give us away.
He didn't seem to like the idea very much either. To have his fluffy golden hair stuffed into a beanie was a horrible idea. But it had to be done.
I slid it over his head and over his ears. I turned to go back to the living room, but looked back to see his face lose a little color.
"Oh my god, is Niall Horan actually nervous?" I laugh playfully.
"Is it that obvious?" he smiles sheepishly. He looked adorable.
"You turned a little bit pale," I said holding my fingers an inch a part.
He smiles at me. He looked like he needed a hug.
I walked over to him and gave him one. He held me to him, as if he didn't want to let go.
"What are you so nervous about?" I ask him in his ear.
"Losing you," he admitted.
I felt guilty. He was worried about me. If I did give myself up, he would be in so much pain. I couldn't do that to him. I would've stayed for my boys but that's probably because he is one of my boys.
"You're not going to," I say, pulling away.
He didn't look convinced.
"I promise."
--------------------------------------------
We were sitting on the couch, Niall and I. We were dressed in black from head to toe. To make him feel better, I had put a beanie on my head, too. My hair still flowed because it wasn't as noticeable, but it made him feel better.
I looked at my watch. 9:57.
"Come on, Niall. We should go outside now," I grab his hand and pull him up from the sofa.
We walk down the stairs and walk out into the cool night. We stand outside for 3 minutes before Catelyn and Harry walk out, hand in hand.
"Did you bring the map?" I ask Catelyn. She digs into her black jacket's pocket and pulls out a folded piece of paper.
"We've known been on the run with each other for how long now? Did you really need to ask me?" she smiles and puts the paper back into her pocket.
"Aww that beanie is so cute!" Catelyn squeals when she sees my beanie. Then she sees Niall's beanie and she smirks at me. I ignore her.
We make our way over to Nandos. The streets are empty. The only noise is the wind blowing through the trees, rustling the leaves.
Nandos is dark. The lights are off inside and the huge sign above the entrance is off, too. It's natural glow is gone now. It's changed just like everything else has changed.
We make our way into the middle of the street. As Niall and Harry help Catelyn with the porthole, I look down the street. I can barely make out my house. I notice there was police tape surrounding it. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped away and turned to whoever it was. It was just Niall and he looked worried at my reaction.
"Sorry," I mutter.
"It's ok," he said after following where I had been looking.
"Come on," he said, grabbing my hand and leading me to the now open porthole. He let me go first. As I made my way down the ladder, I looked up at him, but he didn't notice. He was looking around him, making sure no one was following us.
Good boy, I smiled.
He let himself down onto the ladder. Before going down he made sure the porthole was nice and closed. As the porthole closed, it got darker and darker. My foot touched solid ground and I pushed away from the ladder. I heard someone shuffle their feet behind me and then they bumped into my back.
