~Quick Author's Note
Hey guys! My story is ending :( I really wish it wasn't but it has to end somewhere, huh? I'll try and think of a plot for a sequel... Sorry for any typo's in the last chapter, I was in a rush to publish tht one b4 the day was over. Well, keep reading :)
What a beautiful place, this clearing was.
Trees line the circle and with the wind just right, it would form a calming breeze. Small bushes covered in flowers were at the bases of the tree trunks. They smelled wonderful.
Above the circle, the moon shone brightly. It let it's light hit everything. There were no shadows. No where I can hide. A place where no one could find me. Where I could be safe, where I didn't have to hide. Where I didn't have to run. A world that I had wanted to be in since the moment Reynolds and his men barged into my home on my 13th birthday.
Deep inside, I knew I wanted this clearing to be our place. A place where we could run off to together. A place where we could hide from everything that happened back at home. A place where we can be us. Just us two, in our own little world.
If only we would've made it to the point in our lives where we were really together. Where we lived happily ever after. Where it would've been Nataly and Niall. Not just Nataly. Not just Niall.
A world where I didn't have to hide. A world where I didn't have to run. A world where I could live my happy ever after.
That's the world I want to live in.
I don't want to hide. I don't want to run. I want to just be Nataly.
All these thoughts hit me when Reynolds stepped out of those shadows, holding that little dart.
And I realized these thoughts had popped up because I was giving up. I was done. I didn't want to keep running. I didn't want to keep hiding. I just wanted it to be over.
"You know, I felt that way once, about someone," Reynolds stepped closer, fiddling with the dart.
"And I actually thought that she felt that way, too," he continued.
My face was impassive.
Thoughts kept coming at me.
How much I've changed since the moment I got here, just a week ago.
Wow, did I really just get here a week ago?
Did I change seven people's lives in just 7 days?
I went from an impassive, hard, not caring soldier to a teenage girl with a passion for just ending it all. I went soft. I fell for a boy. I lived my four teenage years in just a week.
I might as well have. It was my last week. Today was my last day. This moment was my last moment.
I looked at Niall. He was looking at me, too. His eyes were hard. Impassive.
Just a week ago, my eyes had looked like that. Just a week ago, the expressions in my eyes were the ones reflecting in his.
He searched my face for a moment before realization hit his face.
He knew I had given up. And as soon as he realized it, his eyes went soft, too. He was giving up with me.
I turned back to Reynolds. I felt Niall grab my hand. I pull him up with me. He doesn't let go.
"I'm done, Reynolds," I say. Simple. That's it. It's done.
Niall stays quiet beside me.
"What? You're giving up?" Reynolds looks confused. But then he starts to smile.
