When I woke up my bed was empty, a little note was on my pillow.

‘Had to go feed and prep for your party, we need to talk, love you, Ayden’

I smiled and sat up slowly wincing. Who would have thought a cracked rib would be so annoying? And what did we have to talk about? I was slow going to the bathroom.

“Hey, hey what are you doing?” my dad said as he came up the stairs probably to wake me up.

“Going to take a bath,” I said confused by his question. A bath was all I thought I could manage.

“Here I will start it for you so you don’t have to bend and bother that rib further,” my dad went into my bathroom and got everything situated.

“Okay its ready be careful getting in,” I rolled my eyes.

“Thanks and I will sheesh,” I shut and locked the door, I didn’t want him coming in thinking I was drowning, I was a little sick of all the coddling.

I relaxed into the warm bubbly water and washed myself up as I best I could. Leaning back once I finished I just sat there to let the warm water soothe my aching body. I felt groggy from the pain medication but there was none left in my system so I was feeling every ache.

I closed my eyes trying to soothe myself and exhaled. All of a sudden my vision became shadowed and my head even more hazy and foggy than it already felt. My eyes flew open but I wasn’t in my bathroom. I gripped the edge of the tub but looking at where my hand should be on the tub it was the door knob to Ayden and Darius’s home.

The door swung open noiselessly which was impossible with how heavy that door was. The vision greeted me with two bright redheads’ male and female who smiled at me pleasantly. They felt friendly but something was off about them. The vision vanished as quickly as it came.

I sat up fast in the tub wincing from my chest and the water sloshed over the edge. I gasped as my eyes refocused back in my own bathroom. The sensation was so disorienting like I was leaving my body and being somewhere else at the same time without moving.

I did not like these weird visions or premonitions. The first time it was just in my dreams one about Ayden and Darius before I had even met him. Darius had been attacking me and there was nothing Ayden could do about it. The second time it was Ayden who was attacking me and nothing that Darius could do about it both times out in the forest, both of which came true in slightly different circumstances. The third was about the dream I had of Hadrian as shadows and smoke before he had actually showed up.

Hadrian was the first Ancient I met who was going to discipline Darius and Ayden for bringing humans into the world of vampires. But we ended up killing him since he wanted to use me for something to turn me into a vampire. Josh actually did the deed when he was still human.

There had been no new premonitions or weird dreams when Ayden was gone with Layla except that one dream about Darius….I shook that thought out of my mind. So why now are they starting up again?

I didn’t want them or understand why it was happening to me and it was disturbing. Let alone how it worried Ayden. I hope there wasn’t anything wrong with me. This vision wasn’t as long or detailed as the first one in school two days ago from the bomb. I would have to talk to Ayden about it later.

Maybe I should take some of his blood, I grumbled to myself. It took me fifteen minutes just to get out of the tub and back in my room to get dressed. The feeling of helplessness bothered me. It took a whole hour for me to dry off and find something to wear. I wasn’t about to try and blow dry my hair.

Today was the party, Beth, Josh and Ayden had been planning for my eighteenth birthday, and I was not about to miss it. What to wear? Hmm…I found some Capri jeans that made my butt look good and a fitted sweater top with a low V neck, which left something to the imagination since it was really cold now. For now I put on some regular flip flops as it wasn’t feeling chilly of course it took me forever to get ready by myself. Make-up was left light and neutral.
