Beth was outside decorating when Ayden and I arrived at his house later that evening. There was a big banner over the living room window screaming ‘Happy Birthday Cail’ which made me blush. It seemed as though they had decorated for an outdoor party. There was a dance area set up on their yard and a DJ booth in the driveway. In front of the window were the refreshments and where I assumed the cake would go, but it was not there yet.
I felt embarrassed at all the attention. Everything was in colors of purple and black. She even had a dunk tank set up out on the lawn. I hopped down out of the car rolling my eyes. There was a few people meandering about, like the DJ setting up and a few friends of Beth’s helping setup, as I walked up to her.
“You are seriously not wearing that,” she yelled at me when she realized I had arrived. I looked confused and down at my clothes. I had on the same thing from earlier with a dressier blood red top on.
“What it is my birthday I will wear what I want,” I said sarcastically teasing her. She rolled her eyes and came up to me and swept me into a big hug.
“Happy Birthday,” I giggled and hugged her back.
“Thanks,” I was looking around pleased and grateful for what she was doing.
“How did you all do this anyway?” I asked.
“Ayden paid for it, and he helped, vampire speed sure comes in handy,” she said proud of her accomplishment.
“It’s brilliant Beth,” she beamed proudly at me pleased that I loved it.
I continued into the house to drop my stuff off upstairs in Ayden’s room. Friends and guests would be arriving shortly. Apparently Beth invited the whole school, with the help of Darius even though he had been gone most of the time. They were the two that enjoyed parties.
I looked out Ayden’s window and watched the activity outside down below. I know Ayden told me not to worry, but I couldn’t help it. The premonition visions were really making me feel awkward and they were just creepy and took me out of my own body. It made me shiver just thinking about it.
“We will figure it out, we always have,” I heard Ayden speak behind me. I scoffed slightly, my lips curling into a smile. He came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
“Happy Birthday,” he whispered in my ear and nibbled on my lobe a little. He was always so comforting. Guests started to arrive as the music began to play with the sunset.
“Come on my love, the birthday girl can’t hide all night,” he took my hand and pulled me downstairs. Josh, Beth and Jen were outside talking as the noises of a party began to roll through the evening, as more people showed up.
I did not know half of them but vampires have a tendency to go all out. I hung out with my friends talking and playing as I greeted and thanked people for coming as the yard quickly filled up and people started to dance, and talk and drink.
Everyone loved the dunk tank and people kept taking turns being the one who got dunked. I began to have a few drinks once it seemed everyone had arrived. My duties as the ‘birthday girl’ were complete.
Beth and I had a couple of shots together, one of the perks about having vampires for boyfriends no worries about being carded for your age as they were mind controlled to serve everybody. Soon as I began to loosen up and have a good time Beth tried to drag me out to the dunk tank, hollering that it was my turn as the ‘birthday girl’ to get dunked.
I fought profusely over that, it wasn’t too cold but it was chilly even with the alcohol warming me up on the inside.
“Beth no,” I screamed playfully. Josh noticed the scuffle and came up to help, I hope.
