“Wake up,”

THWACK!

My head snapped to the side and slumped against my shoulder. Black dots and stars filled my vision as my eyes blinked awake and open. A rusty coppery taste seeped into my mouth and warm thick liquid dropped from my nose. It was the taste of my blood. My cheek stung hot and my head was throbbing painfully more on one side than the other. Probably from the knife when Vivian knocked me out at my house.

Gradually I began to come out of the blackness and focus on my surroundings. I winced feeling my arms and hands were tied behind me viciously with thick rough rope and I could feel it cutting into my wrists skin. My feet were tied to the legs of the chair in front that I was sitting in. I could hear the drop of water in the distance and feel the harsh light from the single light bulb that hung from the ceiling in the dank dark room of this barn. My eyes squinted open.

Vivian and Vincent stood in front of me their grotesque and half vampire faces clear and fangs protruding. One of my eyes felt heavier than the other and I knew it was probably swollen from all the violence they had been doing to me. Sweat ran down my arms and stung.

I hissed and instantly looked at why the sweat burned my flesh. Oh yes, the slash Vivian had given me in my struggle, plus all the others they had given me from my torture.

“We are slowly breaking you into pieces,” Vincent said. Vivian delightedly with an insane giggle brandished the knife at me. I could see the gleam of the blade reflecting form the light. She slashed down viciously on my thigh and I cried out even though I didn’t want to.

I wondered how long I had been here. How long have they been torturing me? I had no sense of time right now. I knew the end of this ordeal was near though, but not the details in between. Once I got my breathing under control from the pain of the newest slash, I tried to speak.

“Beth?” I whispered hoarsely.

“She’s fine, terrified of us but she is starting her labor,” Vincent growled.

He didn’t seem to mind giving me answers since he was sure of his plans for my death now that they had me and Beth safe and hidden by their abilities to block anyone from sensing our human minds. They were wrong. I knew where we were and so did the others. It would be too late for me though.

“Why?”

“You killed our father, well you didn’t technically, coward,” he paused to slash at my arms again, “But we figured it would be easier to punish by killing you since your life is so short and those who invited you into this world will live with it eternally,” I closed my eyes feeling a different kind of pain and disorientation from those words.

SNAP!

I screamed out as Vivian snapped my lower left leg crushing the bones. I grunted and drooled form the pain, saliva mixed with blood. I tried calling out to Ayden and Darius mentally but I was too weak and my mind muddled in pain and they wouldn’t hear me anyway.

“Bring her in,” Vincent ordered Vivian and in a sing song humming tune and tone of voice I heard her bounce away. They were insane. Mad from the vengeance to vampires and their father’s death.

I prayed the plan had been set in motion. No one had known the reason why I insisted on it. No one but me. I knew I was going to die tonight. May they all forgive me. I was saddened by thoughts of my father and Ayden having to tell him about my demise. A tear slipped out of my eyes and down my stinging cheek.

I heard the screech of wheels being rolled into the room and opened my eyes as much as I could again. They wheeled Beth into my line of vision. Beth glanced at me sweating and writhing in birthing pains, her stomach was moving and contorting violently. All the while she screamed or moaned periodically. Her eyes full of utter terror and it made my heart plummet for my friend.
