“No,”

“Are you insane?”

“Even after what she did?”

The room exploded around me in protest and growls, demanding an explanation. Talbot was seething with anger over my statement. Josh looked…betrayed slightly and I frowned at that. Beth just looked frightened. Ayden had his mouth set in a thin tight line not saying anything and Darius was grinning amused by the raucous, typical.

“She can help with Beth’s pregnancy and it just might keep her quiet about it since she has gone through it,” I blurted out and they quieted down somewhat.

“What do you mean Cail?” Josh asked with anger in his face. I gave him a pleading look. He was mad that I would suggest such a thing after what she did to him. Killed him and turned him into a vampire, and that put a strain on his relationship with Beth and his parents, everyone, now this.

He thought I had gone insane and I didn’t really blame him. This was a dangerous game. I snorted as my thoughts echoed Ayden’s words, glancing at him his lip twitched ever so slightly as he held his smile at bay from my thoughts.

“I think it might soften her up to our side as well. I mean we had no idea who Hadrian really was at the time and Beth’s pregnancy will take her back to her own reminding her of her humanity and it just might be the ally we need to take the twins down,” I tried to explain, it all was so different in my head and hard to put into words.

“The twins won’t touch Beth or us while there is one of their kind coming, they are indeed the last as far as we know,” Ayden spoke up in my defense. Talbot stiffened at that statement, glaring at me.

“I should never have gotten involved in this,” he growled angrily, and then instantly wished he hadn’t have said that as he looked at my reaction. Now I didn’t feel so bad for everyone’s reaction, now I was just pissed off.

“Privately I want a word Talbot now,” I said snapping up out of my seat. He was getting on my nerves, really making me angry. For one he was involved long before my family or even Ayden and Darius’s had come into existence so he knew more than they did and I knew it. He knew that I did and no one else.

I wasn’t going to stand there and let him treat this situation as if all this was news to him. At my firm statement his eyes widened slightly and then narrowed with suspicion. He stalked out towards the front door and I followed, ignoring the stunned looks from everyone at my back.

Talbot kept walking all the way down towards the main road. He was getting out of the range from their vampire hearing. He knew what was coming. I kept following him my head held high with determination in my posture.

Finally he stopped and waited for me to catch up turning around and glaring at me. I stood there a moment while we stared at each other starting to feel a little apprehensive all of a sudden. He didn’t say anything just waited for me to start this conversation.

“You knew about the Dhampir’s and who they were all along,” I accused him; he just glared at me and nodded slowly.

“You helped Layla hide them,”

“That’s why she asked Hadrian to create me,” he said his tone monotonous but his eyes showed his anger. My eyes widened slightly in shock.

“Hadrian knew they were still alive?” this was shocking and Talbot just nodded again.

“Were they still together?”

“No,” ouch, to live so long while your love is alive and was not with you and for the first time I felt some pity and understanding towards Layla. I shuddered at the thought of that happening to me Ayden and Darius.
