“The Dhampir’s have immortality like you vampires?” I asked lying down unable to sit up from the enormity of this news.

“Yes Talbot explained a few things while we searched for Jen,” Ayden spoke somberly as he put on his pajamas. I waited for him to continue but he did not and I was too tired to press the matter.

I texted my dad saying that I was staying at Ayden’s tonight with Beth and Josh even though they weren’t here. He wasn’t happy about that but I didn’t have the energy to lie and well I was of age now to spend the night with my fiancé without my parents’ permission regardless of still living with my parents. My dad knows me to be responsible and he certainly knows how much Ayden cares so he didn’t have anything to worry about.

I changed into my own pajamas that I kept at Ayden’s house, well more like he kept for me. He had purchased an armoire and filled it with clothes for me awhile ago, it was his way of being able to spend money me without me complaining.

A knock sounded on the door and Ayden called to come in at whomever as there which happened to be Talbot.

“Sorry for my interruption but I went by the school to see the cafeteria. I found Hadrian’s crest partially on the wall at the point of the blast,” he informed Ayden.

“What does it look like maybe I can try to find something on the twins to get proof?” I suggested. If I could know what it looked like I could engaged the twins to see if they had or knew anything about it just to see their reactions if anything.

“Good idea,” Talbot exclaimed and came up to where I was lying on the bed and pulled up the front of his shirt.

Around his bellybutton down from his solid rock hard muscular chest, was a circular tattoo with two black panthers on either side of his belly button with serpents coming out of their mouths around to the top. The serpent’s fangs were vampire fangs unlike a snake’s and there was blood dripping from them on the tattoo that was not in color.

“”Gruesomely artistic,” I tried to think of a compliment.

“The panthers were a part of the religion of Hadrian’s human clan, as he was one of the first vampires he added the snakes with blood. Since he is…was my creator I got the tattoo as most others do or they have some kind of belonging with the emblem on it,”

I ran my fingers over the tattoo and I felt Talbot shiver, I looked up at him, why would he shiver, but he just smiled at me.

“I’m ticklish,” he said in that accent I had become fond of, I smiled back him what a silly thing for a vampire to say.

“I didn’t know vampires could be ticklish,” I said giggling.

“Some are you got a good look at right?” he asked.

“Oh yeah don’t think I’d forget what that looks like,” I spoke sarcastically as I rolled back over to the middle of the bed tiredly.

“How could the Dhampir’s stay hidden for so long?” I asked.

“With the help of an old and powerful vampire and we have two here in town,” Talbot said ominously but I don’t think he believed either one of them knew anything except the histories. I kept my own suspicions of Layla to myself regardless.

The thought of having to get friendly with the twins tomorrow and coax them into talking about it would not be easy. They were crafty and obviously very old creatures.

“Alright well I will be going now good night Cailyn, Ayden,” Talbot nodded in his direction and left quietly shutting the door behind him.

Ayden climbed into the bed and pulled me into his arms gently wrapping his legs and arms entwining them around me comfortably. I got the sensation that he never wanted to let me go which made me chuckle.
