Consciousness slowly began to return to me. My eyes still closed as I lifted my hand to massage the temples of my head from the dull throbbing that was present in my forehead. My throat felt dry and there was an ache in my back probably from lying down.

Slowly my eyes began to open and focus; it was dark wherever I was. I turned my head to try and figure out what my surroundings were. My nightstand came into view in the darkness, no lights were on. So at least I was in my own bedroom. I wondered how I had gotten there. The last thing I remembered was passing out on the field at school in P.E. class.

The vision I had and the immense pain that accompanied it came back to me in my memory. I rolled over onto my back stretching out my muscles. They felt like they hadn’t been used in a couple of days. I grunted quietly as I stretched looking up as my eyes focused to see my window was open and the moonlight was pouring in. Wait, it was night time already?

Standing also in my window was Ayden shirtless and in his pajama pants with his arms folded over his chest. From the profile view of his face he looked extremely worried and his jaw was set in his serious manner.

“Ayden,” I croaked softly. I was surprised he didn’t hear me moving around. He must have been lost in his thoughts as I saw how quickly his head whipped around, as his eyes widened and his mouth fell open slightly, arms dropping to his sides as he sped the six feet from my window over to me at the edge of the bed.

“Cailyn my love thank god you’re awake,” he breathed with a sigh of relief and took my hand in his and kissed it lovingly. I looked at him utterly confused.

“How long was I out?” I asked my voice still hoarse and Ayden sped to grab me a glass of water from the bathroom.

“Two days its four am right now on Friday morning,” his voice was completely inflected with worry, my eyes widened at his response.

“We tried to wake you but you were limp and unresponsive, we brought you home and told your dad that you were sick and that I would watch over you while he worked. Luckily I was able to tell him that you had been awake off and on and he never questioned it, he has let me stay to keep an eye on you though I have had to pretend to be on the couch during the night. Darius checks on you daily too,” he explained the story for the past two days.

He was holding my hand and began to swirl his thumb in my palm the way he always did to comfort me though I think it comforted him as well. How had I been out for two whole days? Whatever the twins were doing to me when my visions came was hurting me and I hoped that it couldn’t do permanent damage. When I didn’t say anything after a few minutes Ayden called my name again.

“Cailyn are you okay?” he asked softly. I couldn’t see him as clearly in the dark but I knew he could see me. My eyes stung as tears began to gather thinking about my friend being tortured and maimed with the unbearable pain those twins had caused in my head.

“No,” I whimpered my voice quivering and I covered my face with my hands breathing heavily trying to cover up my fear.

Ayden climbed onto the bed, I felt the weight and he pulled me slowly into his chest, his hand rubbing my back slowly as the other gripped the back of my head firmly against his chest.

He didn’t say anything; he could see the horrific images and deep fear in my mind. The hopelessness and remote possibility of finding Jen overwhelmed me. Since we had no idea where the twins lived at or if that was where they even were holding her.

A gust of wind surged through my window and we both looked up confused. Darius stood there looking relieved and upset.

“What are you doing here?” Ayden said quietly slightly annoyed knowing that we could not wake my father up.
