Despite Layla’s enraged mood she switched instantly to sweet and affectionate once we were back in my dad’s presence. By now I was sure Ayden and Darius could sense that I was safe and no harm done and proved that having no protection worked. Even though I didn’t really want to see either of them right now I wanted to tell them ‘I told you so’.

“Everything okay,” my dad said warily. I wasn’t as adept at changing my mood as Layla was but I had gotten what I wanted so was able to give my dad a genuine smile.

“Yep worked out some things together,” I said a little amused with a silly grin in Layla’s direction. She scowled from behind my father, and I suppressed a giggle. Not really feeling the need to press her on when she would come to deal with Beth I went upstairs to my room for some privacy. It was time to call Josh.

“How is everything going?” I asked when he answered not bothering to say hi he would know it was me.

“Good I called her and she said she would be here to check on her daily her mental tone was quite aggravated what did you do?” Josh laughed he was amused as I was.

“Just what needed to be done, how is Beth?”

“She’s fine she doesn’t want Darius to do the mind thing tonight she wants to spend it with her family she’s scared she might not make it,” Josh was concerned and worried.

“There’s no need I don’t see that happening,” I said as what he said triggered quick flashes of a future where Beth is holding a baby and smiling happily at Josh.

“How do you know that?” his tone was awestruck.

“I don’t know lately flashes have been coming of certain things and how they will play out. I don’t think it’s the twins there is no pain and it’s not like the full visions I was getting. These are just like…small clips of what is to be,” I had only noticed this at lunch today but hardly worth mentioning.

These flashes were also a new development and preferred over the black outs of longer visions and the twins interference. Maybe they were lifting their little dampening field so my ‘sight’ would show them a glimpse of our plans. They would have seen and warned Lalya about tonight though if they had and tonight would have played out very differently.

“I think its cool Cail,” Josh interrupted my thoughts.

“It’s really not. So what are you doing?” I scowled, was the only one who didn’t think this…thing was a cures?

“Keeping an eye on Beth I left her alone with her family, but I am watching the house. You know Cail…you have Ayden and Darius all upset…I never seen Darius so quiet,”

“I am not talking about them or to them right now. Things are so complicated and I need some separation,” I snapped, was not about to have this conversation with Josh.

“Okay,” he dropped the subject immediately.

“Well I got a lot of school work to catch up on…thanks Josh,” I said it with sincere gratefulness.

“Anytime Cail,” his tone showed he still had a lot of affection for me, but it was brotherly now, the love of a friend. I smiled remembering how I used to turn down his advances all the time when he would ask me out. Yes, a much better friend than anything. I felt the need a sudden urge to tell him. If he had not been turned I never would have gotten the chance.

“Josh,”

“Yeah,”

“Thank you, you have been a really good friend to me, I don’t deserve it and I am grateful for you and that your still here…I love you,” I waited and then he sighed and laughed.
