Firsts

You practically skipped out of school as soon the last bell went off for the day. You had a shit ton of homework to complete seeing as both your Physics and English teacher likes to double up on the load every Monday. You had reached for your phone and texted Peter, asking him to come around to yours to help you study. He quickly responded with a 'yeah, sure' saying he'll meet you.

It came to as a shock when you noticed Peter made it to yours before you did. You hoped out of the car with your keys and books in your arms, frowning in confusion at Peter and the car.

"How did you..? You got here the same time I did" You state still in shock, raising an eyebrow at the soon flustered boy in front of you. He glanced around and shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.

"I took a short cut I guess... a really really short cut" He muttered the last part to himself thinking you couldn't hear him.

"Okay.." You had decided to drop the subject.

"Mrs Kansas is grueling me already with the English Essay, it isn't due for another two weeks!" You had exclaimed a loud followed by a chuckle from Peter.

"I've already finished mine" Peter chirps up from beside you.

"Of course you have" You rolled your eyes in response, Peter once again chuckling. You soon opened the front door to your house and invited Peter inside, soon apologising for the mess.

"Mum and Dad both work late so the house cleanliness is kinda the least of our worries" You state shyly, quickly dragging Peter off towards your room.

"We're not going to study out here?" Peter asks nervously. You stop for a second and glance around the house, noticing your parents bedroom door closed.

"It's quieter in my room, I don't want to wake them" You respond honestly, opening the door to your bedroom. Peter slowly follows behind, glancing around your room before walking over to you with his backpack in his arms.

"You can sit down if you want" You say, quickly moving a few magazine and clothes off of your bed before walking over towards your desk, setting up your school laptop. Peter had walked around your room, admiring it for the first time. He smiled once he saw photos of you and your friends stabbed onto a wooden board, all smiling in each.

Peter was originally just your tutor to start off with, him being assigned to you in Maths at the beginning of the semester. You had just moved across the country with your family once again. Your family often moved three times a year because of their jobs, packing up their lives each time. You never cared about making any friends, knowing that in a just short few months you'll have to say goodbye to them, but you parents had promised this would be the last move for a while. You'd hope it was, you were tired of moving on all the time.

"What do your parents do?" Peter asks, deciding to break the silence once he had finished glancing at the photo with you next to your parents when you were younger.

"Not much really, they're both in real-estate, though we mainly sell firearms to the forces" You reply like it was no big deal, sifting through the school work on your desk. Peter had frozen visibly.
