Worst Week Ever

Well this was it, Monday morning and I was a student teaching my classmates about history until the school board could find and hire a new history teacher. I was given a key to Mr. Tanner's room as well as the library and exterior doors. I got to school when the other teachers arrived and set up for the lesson based on Mr. Tanner's lesson plans.

Matt was the first one to arrive, "Good morning Miss Fell, are you our substitute?"

I gave him a look, "Don't start with me Matt, I'm nervous as hell right now. What if I lose control of the classroom or no one respects me?"

He placed his hands on my shoulders, "You're gonna do great and if anyone steps out of line, just use your mom voice. It always sends chills down my spine."

I took a cleansing breath, "Thanks Matt, now take your seat."

"Yes ma'am."

The warning bell rang and my classmates started filing in, some confused while others were amused. And then there were a few, like Bonnie and Elena who were supportive.

When the bell rang the entire class continued talking as if I wasn't there. I frowned and took a piece of chalk, dragging it all the way across the blackboard, effectively silencing everyone. I then leaned on my desk, giving a very intimidating smirk, "Great, now that I have your attention. This is how it's going to be until the school board finds a new history to replace the unfortunate loss of Mr. Tanner. I know you might not respect me because I am technically still your classmate. However, I have been given permission by the administration to punish unruly students how I see fit. You act up while I am teaching and I will not hesitate to give you a Saturday detention, following a formal warning of course. Do we understand each other?"

I heard a few 'yes's and saw more nods before turning to the board, "Alright then, let's begin."

Halfway through my lecture I noticed Stefan and Elena talking and I came sitting on my desk in front of them until they stopped to look at me. I smirked, "Oh good you're done. Stefan if you insist on talking during my lecture than perhaps you'll enjoy listening to mine on respect come Saturday morning. And Elena, you might be my friend, and trust me when I say I'm happy you have a boyfriend, but as long as you don't infringe on my time then I won't interrupt your free time. Are we agreed you two?"

"Yes Miss Fell," they both replied.

"Good, now where were we?"

Bonnie spoke up, "We were talking about Mystic Falls' contributions to the Confederacy during the war."

I smiled, "Thank you Bonnie. Now-". I continued lecturing until the bell and then assigned a reading as everyone exited the classroom.

On her way out, Bonnie patted my shoulder, "You did great."

I nodded and then sighed as soon as everyone left, "Yeah only have to do this for a month or more."

The rest of the day was hell, except for the Tyler and Caroline's class. Tyler walked in seven minutes late and snickered, "Sorry I'm late Miss Fell, how's your nose healing?"

I frowned, but quickly morphed it into a smile, "You know, why don't I tell you tomorrow, during detention? I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about while you're helping the janitor clean toilets and scrape the gum off under every single desk in this hallway. Now take your seat and i'll continue my lecture."

As the week droned on, I became more and more tired as I desperately tried to juggle teaching, homework, my jobs, and the daily scheming and feeding sessions with Damon. It finally came to a point where Damon had to compel me to go to sleep.

Caroline began ignoring me when she found out I was 'seeing' Damon, but I would rather she be angry at me then this unrelenting monster's chew toy. I also noticed Stefan keeping a closer eye on me. He probably figured Damon was compelling me and moved to me over Caroline because I had more to lose if Damon killed me.

On Sunday Damon, brought me to the Salvatore house and basically got me whatever I wanted. His Uncle, or nephew, Zach came in while Damon was giving me a back rub and asked, "Damon, what's going on here?"

"Well I can't have my partner in crime dying of exhaustion before I've done anything." Damon rushed over and snatched Zach's throat, "Don't even think about talking to her, she's compelled to listen to me above everyone else. She's mine and no one else's."

I laid on the couch just watching the scene, pretending to be compelled until Stefan came in, "Let him go Damon. And let Tabitha go too."

Damon released Zach, but rushed over to me and I could feel his fangs hovering over my skin, "Or what Stefan? Are you upset that I upgraded from the snotty, mean girl to the sweet, hard-working mother that everyone loves? Forget it, as long as I have her, you can't do anything. And if you do, then I'll kill her and leave a six-year-old boy motherless."

Stefan backed off and so did Zach. Once I was alone with Damon again I asked, "Was all that really necessary?"

"Of course it was, I needed to make a show of force. Stefan needs to know that he's stuck with me until this is over. He can have Elena and I can have Katherine."

I nodded, "I understand, I'll play my role then."

Damon kissed the top of my head, "Good girl, so what can I do to reward you?"

I looked up at him, "You could take me out to dinner."

"Why?"

"Caroline's asking questions and thinks that I'm dating you to get her back for ignoring me. I want her to believe it, so that she'll stay away from me."

"And as a direct result also stay away from me."

"Ding-ding, give the vamp a prize," I sung sarcastically.

I rolled his eyes, "Fine, Saturday after your shift at City Hall, I'll take you out. The whole day just the two of us. No scheming, just two equal partners conducting various trust exercises while masquerading as a couple. Does that work for you, Miss Fell?"

"I do believe it does, Mr. Salvatore, and thanks for pampering me today. I had no idea how wound up and stressed I was."

"No problem, though I do expect compensation."

Without even thinking about it, I held out my wrist, "I know the price."

Damon gripped my wrist and bit into me, drinking his fill and then, healing me with a bit of his own blood. Honestly, I was already used to the routine that it didn't bother me anymore when the metallic substance slipped over my tongue and down my throat. I was thankful that Damon didn't leave bite-marks all over me like he did with Caroline.

I had gotten to know Damon pretty well and about his past through my calculated questioning and I came to the conclusion that he was just a lonely man wanting to be back together with the woman he loved.
