As we got closer to the tomb I could see a bonfire and dancing going on and Elena explained, "The Duke Party. I forgot. I hope they steer clear of the church."

Damon smirked, "Your hope, not mine."

I sighed, "Watch it Damon, no one dies tonight."

Caroline and Matt walked up to us, but I continued on towards the tomb, not engaging in conversation. I arrived at the tomb, walking up behind Sheila as she asked Stefan, "Are you sure your brother will come back with her?"

I answered, "He's on his way. He and Elena got sidetracked making small talk with Matt and Caroline."

Sheila drew me into a hug, "I'm glad you're alright." She released me from the hug and suddenly touched my neck, "Where did you get that?" She then turned my wrist and asked, "Who did this to you?"

I answered plainly, "Emily."

Sheila nodded gravely, "And I bet she told you that those mark will prevent you from telling that secret until they disappear. Am I right?"

I sniffled and nodded silently. Sheila brought me into another hug, "Hush now, child, don't let these savages see your fear. Keep your chin up."

I nodded wiping my eyes and straightening my shoulders when Damon walked into the clearing, "Brother. Witches. Huntress."

Damon walked down into the tomb and I followed closely behind with Sheila at my back. I walked to the opposite wall as Sheila entered the circle, beginning to light torches, "Air. Earth. Fire."

Bonnie entered the circle and pulled out a water bottle, "Water."

They sprinkled water on the floor as I eyed the tomb door. I had been here before, but I wasn't going to let any of them know that. I shivered, "This place is giving me the creeps. I'm gonna go and keep watch to make sure no partyers interrupt."

I walked over to the stairs as Damon grabbed my arm, "Are you okay?"

I pulled my arm away, smiling falsely, "I'm fine." I walked out of the tomb and took a breath, "God, I'm not cut out for this."

I walked over to the gasoline and began gathering them up when Stefan approached me, "Hey, are you sure you're okay?"

"Of course, why wouldn't I be?"

Stefan gave me a look, "No one else might be able to see behind your mask, but I do. Something's weighing on your mind and it's tearing you up on the inside. What is it? Let me help."

I sighed, thinking about Katherine, but spun together a believable lie, "It's about what Elena said at Sheila's and what you said at the motel. I know I'm not invincible, but I feel like I have to be in order to be strong enough to protect my kid. I don't want to lose who I am, but ever since meeting Damon, I've felt this darkness inside of me that takes over whenever I'm scared or angry. The first time Damon made me remember who he was I stabbed him in the heart with a pocket knife without thinking twice and only regretted it after I calmed down and looked down at the blood on my hands. I could've killed him and yet I did it anyway."

Stefan finished hooking up a gas tank to the flamethrower and walked over to me, "Hey, I get it and I'm not going to judge you. If you ever want to talk about it, I'm here."

I smiled, "Thanks Stefan, now let's get back down there."

I took a step in the tomb when a voice asked, "Dark down there, Tabs?"

I froze, looking up at the voice, "Ben."

Stefan growled, "Thought I told you to leave town."

Ben chuckled, "I considered it. Then I thought, screw you."
