While Elena confronted Caroline, I began searching. Why now? What was Emily doing? I happened to look up and see Bonnie go into the bathroom when the door slammed and she screamed. "Bonnie?! BONNIE!" Caroline, Elena, and I desperately tried to open any of the doors, to let Bonnie out, but they only opened when I sensed her. Elena engaged in conversation, but I froze in fear, she wasn't Bonnie. She was Emily.

Emily snatched my arm and lead me to the door, "You must come with me."

Elena yelled, "Bonnie. Bonnie! EMILY!"

At her name, Emily stopped and turned, "I won't let him have it. It must be destroyed."

"Wait! Where are you going?!"

"Back to where it all began."

I called, "Elena!"

The scars began to singe as Emily ordered, "Silence, you know she cannot know." Emily pulled me out the door forcing me to my car, "Take me to the ruins of your family's church."

I took a calming breath nodding, "Of course, Emily."

When we arrived, Emily began working, but made sure to keep an eye on me to make sure I didn't go anywhere. I asked, "What are you doing?"

"Setting up a spell, I need you to protect me until the spell is completed. So fetch your weapons from your car."

"You can't tell me what to do. AHH!" The symbols began to sting and I nodded, "Okay! Okay, I'll do it!"

The burning stopped and Emily continued working, "As long as you are a vessel you cannot defy any Bennett witches's will."

I retrieved my gun of wood bullets, flask of vervain water, and wooden stake and asked, "What exactly am I protecting you from?"

I heard a twig snap as Damon entered the clearing, "Hello Emily, you look different."

"I won't let you do it."

Damon's smirk switched to a frown, "We had a deal."

"Things are different now. I need to protect my family." She looked at me and my scars began to sting again, "You will protect me from him."

I raised my gun, looking Damon in the eyes, "I'm so sorry, I have no choice." I shot him in the leg and felt tears spring into my eyes, "Please Emily, don't make me hurt him anymore."

Damon shouted, "Let her go Emily! I protected your family. You owe me!"

"I know. I'm sorry."

He growled, "You're about to be a lot more than that." He sprinted forward and I shot him, while he was stunned, Emily used her power to throw him back and pinned him to a tree with a branch coming through his stomach.

I went over to try and help him, but was forced to my knees, as Emily asked, "Where are you going?"

"I never wanted to hurt anyone, Emily. Please let me help him."

"No, I still need you."

My whole body began to boil as I screamed in pain. "Let her go, Emily!" Damon shouted, "I promised that I would tear apart anyone who ever hurt her and drain them dry."

Emily came over and pulled me to my feet, but spoke to Damon, "I understand your feeling. In the short time I have known this girl, she has shown strength that not even vampires possess; the drive to protect those she cares for even if it kills her. I don't hurt her because I want to, I hurt her to protect her from herself. If she risks her life to help you, then one way or another, you will end up being the cause of her death, leaving her son, motherless." She pulled me away from Damon and forced me to stand near her as she continued her work preparing the spell.
