I was finally released from the hospital and placed under house arrest by Sheriff Forbes. She drove me to and from school and I couldn't even sneak out if I wanted to due to the new bolts on my window and locks on my door.

However, she did trust me with Damon, which was ridiculous, and I spent the day with Stefan and Elena coming through old boxes to find the elusive journal with the location of the grimoire. Turns out, Stefan and Elena were going behind Damon's back to get the grimoire and destroy it, so he didn't even have a chance to open the tomb. I opened a box and pulled out a metal face contraption asking, "What the hell is this?"

Stefan answered, "What they used to when they rounded up the vampires. They injected vervain to weakened them and strapped this on to keep them from feeding and regaining their strength."

I nodded, looking at Elena, "Can I take this?"

"Why?"

"New weapon for the arsenal. Just in case any other vampires decide to visit."

"Uh sure?"

I put the mask back in the box, "Sweet. I'll see you guys later." I grabbed the box and headed to my house, which was still being cleaned and repaired and locked the box in the basement. I had already received most of my weapons I had ordered and had already given them their own place in the basement. I smiled, in such a short time, I had turned the basement into my own personal gym/ training room/ vervain garden/ torture chamber.

I locked the basement back up and decided to head to the school, to get down to the mystery as to how my history teacher knows about vampires. However, when I arrived, I found Stefan threatening Mr. Saltzman. I barged in the classroom, "Enough Stefan! I lost one History teacher, I will not lose another, now back off!"

"I just want the journal. Jonathan Gilbert's journal. He hands it over and I'll leave."

"You promise? No violence?"

"For you, Tabitha, I won't hurt him."

I turned to Mr. Saltzman, "Where's the journal?"

"On my desk."

"No, it's not," Stefan replied and both Mr. Saltzman and I looked at the desk.

Alaric groaned, "It was on my desk, but you're lucky I made a copy." He pulled out a stack of papers, "Take it and get out."

Stefan looked at me, as if asking for my permission. I took the papers and handed them to Stefan, "Go, I need to have a talk with my history teacher."

Stefan looked at Mr. Saltzman, "Are you sure you don't want me to stay?"

I scoffed, "Please, he can't hurt me. I'm the only person keeping this town from imploding on itself, if he wants there to be peace in Mystic Falls, then he needs to hear me out."

Stefan nodded and sped out of the classroom. I sighed turning to Mr. Saltzman, "My apologies, some people around here can be quite violent when they want something."

He frowned, "So you're working with them? The vampires?"

"Not exactly. Are you aware of this town's history? It's entire history?"

"Not yet."

I began pacing in front of my teacher, "Well as I told you before, this town has a spotty history with vampires since its founding. The Founding Families in 1864 finally got their act together and took the fight to the vampires. There were 27 at the time. They weakened them with vervain, chained them up, and threw them into a church and burnt it to the ground. However, a particular witch who served one of the vampires taken, cast a spell on the tomb under the church, protecting the vampires inside, but sealing them in until the comet that the witch drew on reappeared in the sky." I paused, looking at him, "Got it so far?"

He nodded, "Go on."

"So now the comet has reappeared and there are essentially four sides to a little war going on. There's Stefan who wants to find the witches's spell-book and destroy it so the tomb can't be opened at all. There's our mutual friend who wants to open the tomb to save one person and damn the other 26. There's an unknown group of vampires, who stole the journal, who obviously want to get into the tomb, but I don't know what their end goal is. And then there's me, I don't care if the tomb is opened or not, I just want to keep my town safe. If the tomb is opened, I'll kill any vampire I can get a stake into, if the tomb stays closed, fine by me." I stopped pacing and leaned over my teacher, "What side are you on, Mr. Saltzman?"

"I'm not going to choose sides."

I sighed, "Alrighty then, want to play a little Q&A then?"

"What?"

"Question and Answer, Mr. Saltzman, please do keep up. Basic rules are, I ask a question and you answer honestly. Then you ask a question and I answer honestly. No Lying. If you don't want to answer then say Pass and then we move on, deal?"

"Deal."

I smiled, "Alright, I'll let you go first. Ask me anything."

"What's the name of yours and Stefan's mutual friend?"

"Stefan's brother, Damon Salvatore. My turn, how do you know about vampires?"

"My wife, she was obsessed with vampires and was then killed by one. Who does Damon want to save from the tomb?"

"His lover from 1864, Katherine Pierce. Would you be willing to train me to be a better hunter?"

"That depends. How dedicated are you to protecting your friends and town?"

"I would die if it meant no one else in my town were killed. Will you train me?"

"Yes. Why don't you kill the Salvatore Brothers?"

"Because Stefan feeds off of animals and is dating Elena. Damon and I have an agreement, he doesn't kill and I help him get his girl back."

"Katherine?"

"Ah, ah, Mr. Saltzman, it's my turn to ask a question. How many vampires have you killed?"

"Zero. How many have you killed?"

"Uncle Logan was my first, but I have come close to killing Damon on several occasions, just because he's a World Class Dick and annoys me to no end. Who was the vampire that killed your wife?"

"I think it was Damon." I froze, letting his statement sink in. He suspected Damon of killing his wife. "My turn, if I asked you, would you be willing to help me kill Damon?"

I took a breath and answered, "Pass. I think I've had enough for one night. See you in class, Mr. Saltzman." I walked out of the classroom and drove back to the Forbes house, locking myself in my room, so no one could bother me.

I was rudely awoken later that night by Damon, "Get up!"

"Damon? What the hell?"

"Did you know?"

"Did I know what?"

Damon pinned me to the bed demanding, "Did you know that Stefan and Elena were going to betray me?"

I kept my face neutral and answered, "Yes, I did. Personally, I don't care if the tomb is opened or not. I just want my town to be safe." I saw veins appear under Damon's eyes and asked, "Are you going to kill me? Because I told you the truth?"

I sat up, frowning, "I was getting pretty sick and tired of you hurting me. How does it feel, Damon? To know that the person you thought cared about you went behind your back?" I laid back down, curling up under the covers, "If you're going to kill me, do it quick. If not, get out. I'm going back to sleep no matter what you decide."
