John POV

"John, have you seen Alex?" Eliza inquired.

"Nope," I sighed.

Alex hadn't been at school that day. And for some reason, I had a bad feeling about it.

I headed to class, but before I sat down in my seat, I consulted Mr.Washington about Alexander.

"Why isn't Alex here today?" I asked.

"He was sick," Mr.Washington answered, not really paying attention.

"Oh," I began walking away, but was stopped.

"Do you have that history project you and Alex apparently started working on four weeks ago?" Mr.Washington inquired.

"No..."

"Well, it's due tomorrow. Your welcome to come to my house and work on it today. I know Alex will help you, even though he's sick. Oh, and I won't be there, so don't bother knocking," he explained.

It was almost as if he wanted me to come over.

"Sure thing," I walked back to my desk.

Before I even listened to whatever the lesson was, I fell asleep.

I was walking to Alexander's house with the supplies, and thinking about him and Eliza.

I couldn't believe their relationship was all to make me jealous. What I couldn't believe even more, was that Alex liked me back. I felt bad for lying to Eliza about my feelings for Martha. I just wanted to rewind time and fix this damn mess.

I walked up onto Alexander's doorstep, and opened the door. I mean, Mr.Washington said not to knock, right? I looked inside, and noticed the house was silent.

"Alexander?" I called out.

Nothing.

"Alex, it's me,"

Still nothing.

"Alex, this isn't funny. Where are you?"

Not a sound.

"Alexander, it's John!"

I couldn't hear his voice.

I looked around a bit more, and notice the bathroom lights were turned on.

I opened the door, and my heart plummeted into my stomach.
