Alex POV

It was Valentine's Day.

I was ignoring every call or text I received from John. He would probably rather be with Francis anyway.

Without the comfort of knowing I was John's one and only, I felt completely numb. My only love didn't feel the same way. What was I supposed to live for? I could always attempt again, but slitting my wrists won't make him love me. No matter how many times I cut my porcelain skin, he will never fall for me the same way I fell for him.

I suddenly felt my phone start buzzing, signaling that I was receiving a call. I was about to decline it, when I noticed it was only Eliza.

"Yeah?" I answered.

"Hey Alex. John told me you weren't answering his texts or calls, so I wanted to know if you were okay," I heard Eliza's sweet voice inquire.

"E-Eliza..?"

"Hmm? Is something wrong?"

"Please come over, I r-really need to tell you something,"

"Of course! I'll be there in five. However, I can't stay long, I'm meeting up with Theo later,"

"A-Alright, thanks,"

"Anytime, Alexander,"

I ended the call, feeling dread rise up inside of my aching chest. Did I make the right choice?

Eliza POV

I knocked on Alexander's door, and he soon answered with a tear stained face.

"Oh my god, Alexander! What happened?!" I went pale, and pulled him into a tight hug.

Alex didn't answer, but instead closed the door, and led me to his bedroom.

Once we arrived, he sat down on his bed and patted the spot next to him, signaling me to sit down too.

"I n-need to t-tell you... something..." Alex stuttered as I sat down.

"What is it?" I tried to sound as understanding as possible, but it wasn't like it was easy to cheer someone up.

"I-I think John is ch-cheating on m-me,"

Those words pierced my heart. How could someone as pure as John do something so horrible?

"A-And why would you think that?"

"Remember whenever we went canoeing and John never showed up?"

"Yeah,"

That was also pretty out of the ordinary for John.

"Well, I think he was with this other guy, named Francis, even though he told me he just got lost. And the last time I saw him I looked threw his messages, only because I was suspicious, and I saw he was messaging Francis, the guy I mentioned earlier, and the messages were pretty incriminating," Alex explained.

That did sound pretty suspicious.

"Wait till Angelica hears about this..." I mumbled.

"No! P-Please don't tell anyone! Especially Angie!" He pleaded.

"That won't help anything,"

"I know, but he'll break up with me eventually,"

"Maybe you should talk to him," I suggested.

"Yeah, I guess I can do that..."

"Do you want me to stay here with you, because I could totally cancel my date with Theo if-"

"No, no! You need to go enjoy yourself, I can deal with this," Alex reassured me.

I knew he was lying, but I didn't nag at the issue.

"Alright, call me up if you need anything,"

"Okay, goodbye,"

"Bye," I waved, and left.
