The drive was very silent and I looked up to the sky noticing the dark clouds being formed already. There would be a heavy storm in a bit. I sat back on my seat remembering all the words that came out from his mouth.
He couldn't be sure of what he was saying cause how could he just change telling me he was already into Ahneeka. I shook my head and felt Brad's touch on my arm. I looked up to him and he gave me a nod.
"Stop thinking too hard......it hurts."I gave him a fake smile and he looked to the road with his palm still on my arm. Maybe the fake smile worked.
"Where are we going to?"
He chuckled. "We're heading to cheerful island."
I shook my head in amusement. "Oh no. The last time I was there I heard it wasn't safe."He smiled and added. "But it's cheering island what could possibly go wrong."
I chuckled. "A five year old informed me." We both busted into laughter.
"Look I wasn't referring to you as a child."
"Oh you weren't?"
"Yh I wasn't. Come on, we're here."He parked in front of a restaurant and my eyes looked down to my clothes. That restaurant was a big one and just take a good look at my shabby appearance.
We eventually got out of the car. It wouldn't be bad just that eyes would be asking what a girl of that class was doing there.
We got in and he led me to a table.
"I had already made the reservations."
"Oh, okay." I took my seat then he left maybe to clear the table before someone would want to embarrass us.
He then came back with two plates on his hand and I frowned. "We could just order and they would have brought it."
He took his seat and I looked into my plate as the sweet smell of rice filled my nostrils. I was hungry already.
"My dad owns the restaurant." I looked up to his face. "He's in control of this branch or...""Nah, the family has other branches worldwide. This is just a branch that's why I got the food myself. Sorry, I did not inquire what you would like before getting something."
I cleared my throat. "It's really fine. I mean, it's been a while I ate rice."
He smirked. "You should be proud of me."
"Not because of rice." He chuckled and I began to eat. I was hungry. The spaghetti that was in the pot wouldn't be eaten by me but by my housemates. His eyes were on me and he wasn't eating. I rose my brow. "Your food would get cold."
He then stretched his hand to mine and said. "I'm not hungry. By the way, it's free food."
"But...""Hurry and eat. Don't mind me."
I tried at least. I finished my food and then he led me upstairs where there were just few people seated on sofas. This was not just a restaurant then. Scratch that.
We chose a green colored sofa and sat down then he held my hand again.
"Uhm what drink would you have?"
"Anything.....mild."
He nodded and looked at the bar shouting to the old man there. "Get us something mild.""Okay Brad!" The man said and my eyes widened. "You're famous here."
"Well, I want to take over this particular branch."
I chuckled and he added. "Just kidding."
"What's wrong with taking this one?""I'm not prepared for that shit. We're three children and I'm the last. My siblings could have fun till I'm ready. Now, I want to work on my aspirations."
"What are they?"
He smiled. "Being a pilot."
"Woah that's really wild."
We both chuckled and tightened his grip on my hand. "And I'm sure you're really supportive on that."
I nodded and he said. "That's why I want everything of you." Oh my gosh!
I knew where this was leading and I wasn't ready. I was prone to saying the wrong words. "What about our drink?" I asked. He didn't hear me. All his concentration was on my lips amd kissing him would be the last thing I wanted to do. I just realised that my heart was already stolen by the wrong person. By someone who didn't love me the same way I did. He bent his head and his lips brushed mine but then I said.
"I haven't given a reply."He shifted his head away and looked into my eyes. "You said I should stop rushing things but mehn you're not making any moves."
I took in a deep breath. "I am still thinking."
He frowned removing his hand from mine and said to the old man. "Why're you wasting our time?"
"I'm sorry.... I was attending to the other customers."
He got more angry. No. He shouldn't pour on the anger on the poor man.
"Aren't we customers?! Or is it because of my overfamiliarity with you?!""No sir." The man quickly brought two glass cups and he rolled his eyes. I put my arm on his thigh and said. "Take it easy on him... please." He looked at me expressionless as the old man went for the bottles. He carried my hand and put it on my own thigh and I had a confused expression on my face.
"You know nothing about that so don't advocate for him.""What? I'm not advocating. You were just being too hard on him...."
"Well isn't that what you're doing to me?"
"How? What?"
"Don't even play dumb! Don't do that! Damn! This is all about him!"
Okay what's this jerk talking about?
"What are you even saying?!" I raised my voice and he stood up. This has elevated to another level.
"You're still fucking playing dumb!" His hands were shaking and then I looked away in disappointment. He knew. He knew everything already. People weren't fools as I thought.
"I am confused." My voice was low and quick. He held his head with his hands screaming. Everyone looked at us and he walked away.
I sat there looking glaring at thin air as the thought of him abandoning me there kept playing in my head. He just left me sitting there. Wow.
I couldn't even say anything reasonable to defend myself. I hated myself right there. That was why I needed more time to think. People were still looking at me as the old man walked up to me.
"He sent an uber ride to take you home. I just got the text. I hope you're not hurt?"
