The drive to Janie's was silent. This was because of the trauma that occurred not long ago. I was quiet and I observed my silence was making him uncomfortable. It was obvious he didn't want me experiencing things like that. Worse because of him or because of Ahneeka the psychopath who likes him which still goes down back to him. I put my hand on his lap and said to him.
"Puff... quit being disturbed. I'm fine."

He heaved. "I don't want you getting hurt. That glass cup was just a glimpse of her madness." His breathing picked up immediately.
I rolled my eyes. "Don't worry about her. She's just a sick person...."

"And lethal."

I took in a deep breath. "Relax. It'll be fine. I won't get hurt and who even calls you Trev... damn that's so eww."He chuckled and I smiled at the fact that he had loosened up already. Progress!

"In fact, you ain't moving into that new apartment."
I closed my eyes in disappointment. "Fuck back to square one."He chuckled and I added. "You're out to frustrate me."

"I don't want you running around town without being safe."

"I've warned you already that bitch can't do nothing to me."

"I just want you safe that's all. Optimum safety."

I was so into the discussion that I didn't realise that we had stopped at Janie's already. My mom came out of the house almost immediately when he parked the car like she had timed us. I came out of the car with a very weak smile. What was going through my mind was....
"Why're you here?" Yes I knew she wanted to take me to my apartment but what happened to just texting the address to me? I'm 18 for God's sake.

She cleared her throat. "We got an apartment for you."

"And?"

"Wanted to take you there myself."

I heaved. "Mum I'm actually an adult. I can handle things myself."

She shook her head and smiled at Trevor. "Oh hey, I'm so sorry I've forgotten your name."

"Trevor" We both chorused.
She blinked slowly voluntarily. "Forgive my short memory."
"Oh it's nothing. By the way, it's been a while since we saw." He answered.

"Yeah that's true." She chuckled. My eyes really wanted to go three sixty degrees at that moment. Janie came out of the house with a grin. I ignored her on purpose and she pouted.
"So, uhm Trevor, can you drive us to her new apartment."

He chuckled lightly then looked at my mom. "No."

My mom frowned and my eyes widened. "What?"

"Look ma'am, Pearl is in a mess at this moment. She can't be staying all by herself. At least she should stay for like a month with Janie till things get settled."

I shook my head. Why did he tell her that? I keep a whole lot of things from my parents so why was he snitching on my ass. "Mum don't mind him......" I said with a laugh and she cut me.

"What 'mess' is she in?" She said with a confused face. Okay, literally, my eyes had gone three sixty degrees.

He cleared his throat and I threatened him with my eyes not to say anything but he still went on.
"I'm sorry I can't tell you anything cause she's gonna kick my ass but she can't be alone. Trust me."
Her eyes went straight to me. "Is it something at school?"

I shook my head. "Nah, it's teenage stuff."
She then came closer to me and held my hand. "Should I involve the police?"
"Oh fuck no. This is something really basic mum like you're not even meant to be worried at the moment. It's just some crazy teens stuff and by the way, I'm an adult so I can take care of myself."

She chuckled. "An adult taking care of teens stuff."
Everyone there began to laugh and I held back mine cause I had to prove to my mum that I was really serious. "Mum just stay out of this okay?"

I could still see worry in her eyes so I added in a lower voice. "I'll be fine mom. It's nothing serious."
She hugged me tight and pecked my hair. "I love you Pearl."
I wrapped my arms around her. "I love you too mum."

"Don't get into trouble." I chuckled. "Of course I won't."

"And call me, you never call."

"I'll start calling on a reg."

We then let go of the hug and she pecked my forehead. "I'll be leaving now."

"Good." I nodded with a smile as she got out her phone from her bag. Probably, it was to order an uber drive. She then put her phone back into her bag. I turned to see Janie having a discussion with Trevor. I could easily guess what they were talking about.

"Are you dating him?" My mum drew my attention back to her and I rose my brows. "What?"
"Are you both in a relationship?"

Should I tell her? Was it even her business? She would be really glad.
"Uhhmm yeah."

She had a wide grin on her face as a car parked infront of us. "I'm so happy."
"Yep you are. Your ride's here."

She chuckled and began to whisper "Sure. Hold him tight cause he's really a good person and attractive too."
I shook my head. "You definitely sound like grandma."

She chuckled again and got into the car. "Bye." She waved and I waved her back as the car drove away. My mum had really missed out on alot in my life. Lol, if she was aware that I had an incident with a murderer, she would have really freaked out. I don't know why I don't want she and dad to be involved. Maybe because I want to experience all these things and tackle them myself. Anytime I needed help, I would have just called them. But all what I've done by myself is part of my experience and I'm proud of them. I'm not dead after all.

Hey. I took a really long break, yeah? Oh well, I've been busy with an exam. Hope y'all understand. Love you guys.
