My sister said something to me just before she died.

She looked at me and said simply "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get"

I just laughed at her because quite frankly that's the biggest load of crap I've ever heard. Like c'mon could she not come up with some original material?

I was at the top of my game in high school. I had the chicks, the good looks, the wealth, incredible friends, the coolest kid sister, my older brother needed to take a chill pill, but not the point.

I started college, Blake and I moved in together, and I still managed to pick up girls. My best friends then got hitched. My GPA was incredible. Life was good. The world was my oyster.

So how did I get here? Standing in the emergency room with a God damn ring in my pocket?

Well, it all started when I met my friends at our favourite bar for Jenny's birthday -Oh I'll get to that story but first, I was sitting at the back of a Cab, on the phone with my best friend Eva who had just told her husband Sam that she's pregnant.

"Then what happened?" I asked.

"He woke up and cried," she told me.

"Really?" My eyes widened in surprise.

"No of course not...he was so excited you know, he was basically jumping up and down" Eva informed me.

"That's great news," I told her "I'm happy for you both"

"Thanks," she said, "when are you getting here?"

'Here' being our favourite bar called Franklin's, where we were celebrating Jenny's birthday.

"Two minutes tops" I assured as looking out the window "see you all then"

"See ya then" she said before the phone call ended.

I looked up a cab driver. "that was my best friend Eva," I told him.

"Sure" he nodded as focusing on the road.

"She's pregnant" I smiled excitedly.

"Good for her" he nodded again.

When we finally arrived, the cab driver stepped on his breaks with full force. Probably because I was driving him insane from all my talking.

Walking into my favourite bar felt different that night. Sam and Eva were finally happy again and I got to see Jenny and her new boyfriend.

So I walked into Franklins bar slowly with my grey suit and my dirty blond hair perfectly combed. In the distance, I can see my favourite married friends and then jenny with what's his face.

"so I nearly landed this chick" I started as taking a seat beside Eva and Sam "she was buying the whole man from the moon thing and all but then-"

Yeah, that was a lie. She really wasn't buying it.

"it turned out she was married?" Eva guessed.
