"Ned!" the screams come from down stairs. "What did you do! What the fuck did you do!"
Oh my God.
I run down the staircase as fast as I can, only to find my dad with his hands around Ned's throat, while they both stand in the middle of the kitchen.
"Get away from him" I order, glaring at my father, forcing him to take a few steps back.
"Tell her Ned" he orders, "Tell your sister about your latest screw up!"
Ned rubs his neck while breathing heavily. I take a few steps towards him in confusion, where I see his freshly bruised face.
why is his face all bruised up? Dad usually doesn't do anything that leaves visible marks - well at least not his face that is.
"I've been kicked out of school" Ned admits.
"What?" I gasp.
"You're done! You hear me!" Dad screams from across the kitchen, "You're going to the nearest public school there is!"
That would be Riverside high - Mark Antony's school.
"Great no more suit and tie" Ned retorts.
"if Ned leaves I do to" I declare, with my gaze fixed on my dad.
"Elise-" my dad sighs in disbelief.
"If Ned leaves...I do to" I repeat, emphasising every syllable.
"Your both crazy like your..." dad looks away from us.
"Say it!" Ned demands, "say her name"
I look down at that moment in sadness. Don't say it. Just don't.
"Where's Luke?" Dad throws his arms in the air, "I need my first born"
"He's at Columbia where you left him" Ned spat just as I look up at them both.
"Of course he is" dad sighs, "...good night Elise"
At that moment he walks away, leaving Ned and I alone in the kitchen, in silence.
I glance at Ned's bruises and bleeding lip. "Let me fix you up"
"I'm too broken to be fixed" Ned softens his eyes at me.
"C'mon" I grab his arms before dragging him to the restroom. "What happened huh?"
"I got into a fight with Jeremy Higgins" Ned explains when I push the restroom door open.
"As in the head masters son?" I furrow my brows.
"He started it" Ned defends his actions.
"How so?" I question while Ned takes a seat on the steps in front of the bath tub.
"He roundhouse kicked me in the middle of the cafeteria" Ned's eyes widen in aggression.
"Why?" I raise a brow.
No one ever hits Ned for no reason. He's always getting into fights and there's always a reason behind it. Usually - he's the one who starts it.
"No reason" Ned looks down in shame like a little kid.
"Ned?" I insist.
"I may or may not have fucked his girlfriend" he admits.
"What-" I raise my voice.
"In my defense I didn't know Jeremy Higgins was the boyfriend she mentioned" he explains, "if I knew then I would have never hit that"
I chuckle "Good God"
"Are you serious about transferring with me?" Ned looks up at me while I clean the blood off his lip with the rubbing alcohol and facial cotton pads.
"Of course" I nod, "you jump, I jump, Jack"
I'd do anything for my brother, even transfering to a public school, away from my friends. But also by moving to Riverside high, I get to finally meet Mark Antony.
"Well okay then" he nods with a small smile, "I have friends who go there so I don't mind"
I laugh at him. "Since when do you have public school friends?" I raise a brow.
We have had the best private school education my dad's money can buy. We've never associated with lower or middle class kids before.
"I did extra curricular activities with some of them, I also went to elementary school with one of them"
"Like who?" I question.
"You remember Jenny Parker?" he says as I pull my hand away from his face.
"Jenny Parker? The bubbly red head?" I remember.
"That's the one" he nods.
"Gosh I haven't seen her since we were kids" I ponder "Since she moved foster home's, right? I didn't know you were still in contact with her"
"I do extra curricular activities with some of her friends" he nods. "So we never really lost touch"
"Will I get to meet them?" I smile.
"Of course" he grins "I mean unless you rather hang out with people your own age"
"Yeah hmm no thanks" I laugh.
