Darkrai was shocked at Anabel's question as he didn't know that she knew about that. How does she knows about that? He thought. Darkrai stared at Anabel in shock.
"How do you know about that?" Darkrai spoke to the young girl. Anabel gazed at him in confusion, until she remembers Darkrai's nickname.
"The name, "King of Shadows", came to me in a dream. A voice told me that I shouldn't be afraid of you and they told me that you should be my guardian." Anabel explains to Darkrai. Darkrai smiled at her.
"So, you are the one called Anabel?" Darkrai asked to make sure. Anabel nodded her head.
"Yes, I am Anabel." Anabel smiled at Darkrai's tone. The Dark type Legendary Pokémon was happy about her being his protectorate, despite him knowing that she will train Psychic pokémon in the future.
"I am 'King of Shadows', but because you are going to own me, you can just call me Darkrai." Darkrai tells Anabel. Anabel smiled.
"Wait, you said own?" She asked to make sure.
"Yes. You will be able to catch me when you figure out your goal." Darkrai tells Anabel. Anabel then frowned. I still don't know my goal. She thought. "Don't worry. You'll figure it out." Darkrai reassures Anabel.
"Why do you want to be my daughter's guardian?" Anabel's father asked Darkrai.
"She has potential to stop my nightmares from becoming worse and I always wanted to be owned by a very kind trainer." Darkrai explained himself to the man. The man accepted his reasons.
"How will you hide, Darkrai?" Anabel asked Darkrai.
"I can hide in your shadow." He responded. Anabel looked curious about something.
"And if I'm at a place where my shadow isn't visible?" Anabel asked.
"Just chant the chant. I know you know it. You know my title." Darkrai says gently. Anabel searched through her brain and when she did find the chant, she grinned at Darkrai.
"I will." She tells Darkrai. Darkrai nodded. He could see the girl's hidden potential as a person and as a trainer. She will become stronger. He thought, gazing at the girl who will grow up throughout her journey.
Eevee was back in her trainer's arms and Eevee was currently rubbing her head against Anabel's chin, tickling.
Anabel giggled. "Eevee, that tickles." She responded, making Eevee continue to rub up against her. Darkrai just stared at the duo, letting them have their fun. If he say anything else, Anabel will put in danger.
Darkrai turned his head up towards the sky and he hoped that the pokémon watching them was right.
