Jared's POV
I had a good time at Evan's house. I know, we didn't do anything, but that made it all the better. His mom asked if I would stay for dinner, and, I mean, my parents are never home so I accepted.
Dinner went nicely. Heidi (she asked me to call her "Heidi" instead of "Ms. Hansen") made pasta and we just talked about school and some other things. It had been so long since we had done this, eaten dinner together. I used to come over here all the time. I practically lived here with the Hansens. Evan's dad skipped out when Evan was younger; six maybe.
At the time Evan was Evaline. He was she. So much had changed but I wouldn't trade any of it for anything. Even then, I liked Evan. I felt like a part of this family more than I felt like a part if my own. My parents were never home. Yes, Heidi wasn't with Evan much, but she saw her son every day. I was lucky to see my parents once a month.
"So, Jared," Heidi said, "how are your parents?" Holy crap, I summoned the topic.
"I'll be honest. I'm not sure. I haven't seen them in a while," I explained.
"Why is that?" Heidi looked concerned.
I waved off her fears and said, "They are both on business trips. They left two weeks ago."
"Oh, honey," Heidi said. She put her hand to mouth and looked so sad.
"It's okay. It's been like this for years. I know how to take care of myself."
Even Evan looked concerned, now. He looked toward his mom. "C-can Jared s-spend the n-night? I-if that's o-okay with y-you, Jared?"
"I mean, if Jared wants to, then it's fine with me. Jared?" Heidi looked in my direction, raising her eyebrows.
"Um, yeah. As long as everyone's okay with it. I just need to run home and get some things. But, yeah, sure, I'll stay the night." I was actually really happy that they offered. The quiet of my house at night is extremely lonely and I needed another person in the house.
Evan's POV
After we finished eating, Jared drove to his house and came back with extra clothes and a few toiletries. He seemed happier than he was before dinner. I was glad that my friend was happy.
"S-so w-what do you w-want t-to do?" I looked at him, expecting some ludicrous answer.
"I don't know. Maybe just watch a movie and go to bed?" And that is exactly what we did.
We both slept on a pile of blankets and pillows that we made on the floor. Neither of us cared that it was only eight o'clock, because we were tired. I fell asleep before the movie even ended.

I woke up on the floor of the living room with Jared about a foot away from me. I guess I should wake him up so we could get ready for school.
"Hey.... J-jared.... Wake up... We have t-to g-get r-ready for school," I said shaking his shoulder.
He groaned but got up and looked at me. "Good morning to you."
I stood up beside him and looked at the floor. "G-good morning."
"Alright. We have school to attend, however much we don't want to go." Jared's comment made me chuckle.
So he changed in the bathroom and I git dressed in my room.
Time for the second day of school. Ugh.
How's that for a third chapter? Probably really bad. Sorry. Next chapter may or may not be better. Again, sorry. But I hope you like it.
