BRODY'S POV
-please point out any typos. I got lazy and didn't feel like looking for them myself-Friday arrives slower than I would've liked. Throughout the week, I've been texting Gracie, but her excuse was that she's been working on not only her schoolwork, but Willa's too.
It frustrated me. Why would you take up someone else's grades when you're having trouble maintaining your own? It made no sense either, considering Willa is two entire grades above Gracie.
"It's none of your business, how I handle Willa's work." Noodle would shoot back when I offer her my explanation. She would get defensive quickly.
So I had given up on telling her how I felt, in all matters. In all departments. In all seriousness.
Because she didn't care.
I throw my padding down in frustration. Boys around me ignore me except for Lance, who smirks. I want to walk over there and give him another black eye. What he did was ridiculous.
"Come on, Parker! Get your head out of your rear and focus!" Coach yelled from across the locker room. I bend down to pick up my padding and shove them down onto my shoulders.
After I have my jersey on, I walk out of the locker room, my cleats hitting the concrete in rhythm with the band practicing all the way across the field. I search the ramp in front of me to find Gracelynn.
My Noodle.
A smile plasters itself on my lips as I watch her search carefully for me. Her eyes fill with disappointnent as she stares at the locker room door. She was dressed in my jersey, light washed shorts, and a white cardigan over it all, and white Converse to top it off. Her hair fell in long waves past her shoulders. Our friends were around her, walking quickly to find seats. I could tell Alex was nervous by the way he kept moving around. Dancing, moving his hands, they were things he does when he's nervous. And Willa seemed to notice as she worriedly glanced to her side at him.
"Noodle!" I call, turning multiple heads.
But the only head I wanted to turn was Noodle's.
And I did.
When she saw me, her smile was so wide it reached her eyes. I walk over to her and look up at her. She was probably about three feet above me when she reached the other side of the railing and looked down at me, her smile still there.
"Hi," Gracelynn said quietly.
She was so cute and she wasn't even trying. She didn't have to try.
"Hey," I reply, mentally face-palming myself.
'Hey'?! Really?!
"So, Alex is planning on telling Willa after the game. His reasoning behind it was that if it didn't work out well, he'd be able to run to his car." Grace chuckled.
"That's Alex for you, always thinking way too ahead," Anden walks up beside Gracelynn, eyeing me carefully. .
Anden and I were like brother and sister. We told each other everything. Only, Anden knew I had a different feeling for Gracelynn before even I did. I don't know how she knew. Maybe it was the stalkerish staring. Or the defensive stance I had towards Lance after he did what he did. Or maybe it was feeling the need to follow Grace around like a lost puppy and make sure she was okay.
