Well, I really screwed up. Jesse wouldn't even look at me. I genuinely hurt him. Whenever I would venture to apologise, Jesse would neglect me as if I wasn't there. While the group discussing ways to administer the town more secure, I assumed this would right time to talk to Jesse. I casually walked up to him, as he was reading an obscure book. "Hey, Jesse", I dispensed him a paltry smile. Jesse didn't say anything. He proceeded reading, scorning me attaining right in front him. "Jesse, can you please listen to me?", I urged him. Jesse, however, didn't attend at me. But, I could undoubtedly tell he was growing irritated with me in his presence. I lamented and bequeathed him to read. Olivia could tell I was disconcerted and bestowed on me a compassionate grin. "You look troubled. Is something bothering you?", she claimed. I dejectedly glimpsed at the floor. "I think--I know Jesse's mad at me", I keened, embracing myself. Olivia promptly gazed at Jesse. "I'm sure he'll come around. Jesse won't be mad forever", she reassured me. I persistently agitated my head. "He won't even look at me. He hates me", I bit my lip to prevent myself from being impassioned. I knew Jesse would eventually dislike me. But, not like this. "He does not hate you", Olivia disproved my theory. I lifted my eyebrow. "Ok, honestly, I've never seen him like this before. So, probably he is a tiny bit upset", Olivia giggled restlessly. I maintained the same appearance to her. "Ok! Ok! He is angry at you", Olivia sorrowfully avowed. "But, I'm positive that he'll forgive you. Jesse isn't the type of person who holds grudges". I unconvincingly agreed, attempting not look unsettled. "Just give Jesse some time to cool down. He'll come around. Trust me - he'll come around".
I preferred to go home and give Jesse some space. I assumed he would forgive me soon. Despite, I wasn't quite sure what happened. One minute we were fine, the next he's yelling at me about who-knows-what. I felt guilty. Extremely guilty. I leisurely strolled back to my treehouse and collapsed right in front of it. I glanced up at the leaves, as they gradually descended to the ground. "Why is my life such a pile of crap?", I grumbled to myself. I was regularly told to be positive to life and life will be positive back. But right now, that quote isn't really being beneficial. "Life's technically what you make it". It astonished me when I apprehended another voice. I instantly sat up and to come face to face with someone I've never met before. "Or, so I've heard", he smiled. It was a boy. He had red kinky hair and delicate blue eyes. He had a natural smile and to be honest, he wasn't that bad looking. Regrettably, for him, I don't function well with strangers. "I think you're talking to the wrong girl. The 'Hard-To-Get', popular girls are that way", I tended to the other side of town. "'Hard-To-Get.' Popular. Not my scene", he shrugged and sat next to me. UNINVITED. My gaze shifted to the contrary side. "My name's Max", he acknowledged me with a considerate smile. "You are?" I blinked suddenly in consciousness. "I'm (Y/N). You probably don't know me. I'm pretty infamous around here", I gloomily chuckled. Max squinted his eyes at my face. "No, I know you. You volunteered to stop Champion City from destroying The Birch Tree", he grinned. I was genuinely stunned a citizen of BeaconTown actual knew me. "Yeah! That's me!", I beamed. "People made fun of you because you tied yourself to the tree. And the city presumed you were an out-of-control tree hugger", Max finished with a rueful smile. My simper swiftly withered. "Yeah...That's me", I muttered. "I think that was pretty brave of you", Max reassured me. "Not many people would consider doing something so bold". I gently glanced up at him as my smile reappeared. "Thanks. I appreciate that", I beamed.
Max abruptly appeared to be really uncomfortable. "So, I heard a rumour that you're Jesse's girlfriend. Is that true?", he declared, rubbing the back of his neck. I snorted and instantly shook my head. "No, of course not. We're just friends". Were just friends. But, I determined not to supplement that last piece. I heard Max let out a relieved sigh. "Oh good because", Max's speech loitered off. "Because...?", I curiously encouraged him. "I'd like to get to know you better", he ignorantly smiled. I gawked at him, disturbed. I nonchalantly hoisted myself up as he elevated with me. "I mean, you seem like a really nice person", he admonished himself. "I thought we could go somewhere sometime". I was nevertheless just as astounded. My entire body suspended functioning altogether. The absence of my voice amplified the inconvenient pressure dramatically. You could apprehend a pin drop. I naturally couldn't say anything. Was he asking me out on a date? Or is it just a casual hangout? Should I say yes or no? The answer ultimately came to me. "Listen, as amazing as you are, and as much as I'd love hangout with you, things are...complicated right now. I made a huge mistake with a friend and socialising with other people while they're still upset won't fix anything". I presumed Max to scorn my heartwarming regret and move on to some other girl. But alternatively, he gave a comprehension 'appearance. "I totally get it. You're trying to look after your friend. I can respect that", he smiled. I gasped with satisfaction. That was just instantaneous luck. "Just a quick question", he immediately proceeded. "What exactly did you do to this 'Friend'?". I narrowed my eyebrows in impediment. "Honestly, I don't know. I think said something offensive without knowing it would provoke him", I revealed. "I have no idea how to get him to forgive me". Max glimpsed into the background before reverting his gaze to me. "I think I have an idea", he vexatiously grinned. I raised an eyebrow as he susurrated his opinion into my ear. I was outrageously misinformed. "Really? Are you sure?", I precautionarily required in an unconvinced tone. Max mutely approved. "You know what they say - 'The quickest way to a person's heart is through their stomach'", Max winked. I was still doubtful, but what did I have to lose.
As I came back from the shops, I noticed something exceptional. Snow. Polar, glacial snow. We weren't in a snow biome. That could only mean one thing. "Herobrine", I muttered agilely to myself. The citizens occurred to sink into anxiety. Last time there was a climactic weather change. It didn't end well. Did Jesse know about this? I endeavoured really hard to disregard the snow settling down and proceeded down the path. I stood outside The Order Hall and rammed open the door. I assumed everyone to be out saving the world or something. But peculiarly, everyone was still here. The moment the door swung open, all eyes were on me. "(Y/N)! I'm so glad you came back! I'll go tell Jesse you're here", Olivia beamed before hastening through the hall. "Did you see the snow outside? Crazy!", Petra captured a swift glance outside. "And cold", I apprehended a low muffle behind me. I spun around before disintegrating into hilarity. Lukas was wrapping almost 10 layers of clothes on. He resembled as if he gained billions of pounds overnight. He could scarcely speak, as the thick scarf was concealing his mouth. "Hey! I want to catch the villain that's lurking through town, not the common cold", Lukas snapped back at me. I ceased my chuckling before presenting Lukas an explanatory look. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm done", I modestly grinned. Lukas attempted to progress forward, but he spontaneously fell on his face due to the weight of the clothes. At that point, everyone was laughing. "I'm fine, thanks for asking", Lukas eloquently grumbled. "No-one did", Axel snickered. Laughter once again echoed through the halls. Olivia nonchalantly strolled back into the room with a petite pout. "Jesse is...um...still a little upset", Olivia grimaced and hung her head. "Yeah, I thought he would", I conferred a vulnerable, pathetic smile. "That's why I brought precautions".
I mustered up the audacity to open the door. Jesse was relaxing next to the fireplace. He was sampling a heated cup of hot chocolate, gazing into the blazing flame. I tenderly shut the door as he flinched at the sound. However, he didn't turn around. "Hi, Jesse", I tenderly smiled. Jesse didn't reply. As typical, he scorned me. "I brought you something", I unobtrusively extended, stepping adjacent to him. Jesse took a long sip of his drink but rejected to look at me. "Yep. The silent treatment. I guess I deserve that", I groaned, without rubbing my inadequate, artificial smile. I rested next to him and acknowledged the warmth of the flame. "I'm sorry, Jesse. I'm not sure exactly what I did wrong, but I want you to know that I didn't mean to hurt you", I confessed. Jesse withdrew to let himself glance at me. His body despairingly desired to look at my features, but he wouldn't tolerate his figure to manipulate him this time. Jesse sustained piercing into flame. "Jesse, please. At least look at me", I urged him. There was a suspenseful pause before Jesse exerted himself to convey me a miniature, yet menacing scowl. "I know. I screwed up. I feel like crap...I am crap. I am the crappiest person in the world. I'm even crappier than crap", I muttered, grasping my fists. I detected Jesse modestly chuckling at my words, but he encased it up with a cough. "I heard that", I taunted, poking his stomach. Jesse narrowed his eyebrows. "I don't know what you're talking about", he grumbled, attempting to conceal his grin. "I made you laugh. That means I'm off the hook", I proclaimed. Jesse circled his optics. "I didn't laugh. It was a cough", Jesse bit his lip. I presented him a dubious glance. "Ok. Ok. You're forgiven", Jesse shook his head, chortling. I gave a diminutive hug before showing him a smile. "I'm really sorry I made you mad", I regretted once more. "No. I overreacted. I'm sorry", Jesse comforted me. I abruptly remembered what I bought and dug into my inventory. "Here. This was incased you weren't as accepting", I smiled, handing him a box of chocolate chip cookies from a bakery in town. Jesse was amazed but readily took it. He reached behind him and pulled out a mug of hot chocolate. "You can't have cookies without hot chocolate. It's against the 'Laws of Food' ", he hostilely grinned. I simpered and took the mug to have a sip. Wow! This is really good hot chocolate.....Also really hot! I attempted to extinguish the blaze in my throat with my available hand. Jesse was no help what-so-ever! He just sat there, laughing his head off at my reaction. "Ya thuck!", I grumbled, with my tongue sticking out of my mouth. "I probably should've warned you it was hot", Jesse chuckled.
I was assuredly happy again. I couldn't imagine what would've happened if Jesse wasn't so humane. Jesse took his hand and connected it with mine. Revealing to me that beautiful grin that I missed. "Thank you".
