Hey guys! WOW! 2K reads for this crappy story! I'm so glad you guys liked it. I'm very sorry for the wait. I wanted to create a new fanfic story. I hope you like this chapter! Took me ages!
A blinding light engulfed my vision. It was like observing the sun for the first time. Melodious, murmuring voices were ahead of me. I squinted my eyes, striving to shield myself from the bright beam. Axel strolled in, with a pressing expression, trying to take pity on me. Olivia gradually followed behind him, looking as timid as I was. Next came Petra, who seemed as if she was about to plunge a dagger right through my chest. Deep down, I was hoping she would fight against it. But, judging by her appearance, I wasn't too sure. Sadly for me, Petra was clever and left Jesse outside. He peeped through the window as an attempt to see what was happening. Panic and dread shoved me further into my seat as I attempted but neglected to stand up.
I knew Axel wouldn't do anything to grieve me. And Olivia and Jesse always back me up. But obviously, I wasn't on Petra's 'Good Side' anymore. Oh crap! What if she tells everyone? What if they find out? What if Jesse--?!
Petra slanted against the wall like an angsty adolescent. She grunted at me and glanced away. "Alright. Let's get this over and done with", Axel muttered. The door nonchalantly opened as Jesse bashfully glimpsed through. "Guys I don't think this is necessary", he claimed as an attempt to help me. "Jesse, what did we say?", Petra crossed her arms. "Stay outside!". Jesse rolled his orbs and exposed an irritated sulk before flinging the door shut.
"Alright, please state your name and business", Axel ordered, giving me a terrorizing side glance. "W-What?", I studdered, mystified, embracing myself. "It's something I've always wanted to say", he sheepishly grinned, rubbing the back of his neck. "Come on, (Y/N). Name and business". I bestowed a bewildered frown. " But...you just said my name. And I'm being interrogated, so technically that is my business", I mentioned to him. "Dammit!", Axel cursed, pouting to the ground.
"Maybe we should start with some actual, obscure, questions", Olivia took over, pulling out a sheet of paper. Axel rolled his exasperated eyes, moving back to give Olivia some space. "First question. How do you know Herobrine?", she lowered the paper to show me a daunting glance. "And it would be wise not to lie to me". Woah! That's gonna haunt me. "I don't know much about him", I fibbed, uncomfortably. "I mean, I've heard a bunch of rumours about him but, nothing major". I noticed Petra giving me a sinister glare. Please don't say anything! Please don't say anything! Please don't--
"Alright", Olivia took note of my answer. "Have you ever met him personally?". What's with all these exclusive questions? Technically, it's been years since I saw him, so--, "No. No, I haven't", I agitatedly replied, scowling down at the ground so I can't make eye contact. "Agitated response with lack of eye contact", Olivia muttered as she traced the pencil on the paper. She wrote my response down, with intuition and doubt in her voice. I would kill to be home right now.
"How did you suspect it was him causing all the havoc in town?", Olivia asked, taking a swift glimpse at me. "Rumors? Hearsays?". I tried my hardest to remember the answer I gave Petra a while back. To avoid suspicion from the rest of the team. I didn't know how much longer I could keep this up. Petra didn't look like she could keep the secret for much longer. I had to make this quick and to the point. "I read a couple books about him. And word travels fast. I didn't intend on finding information about him. I just happen to find books with him in it and arrive at the time everyone is talking about him. All the information plus the crazy fiasco that's been happening seemed to add up", I blurted, wishing I could shut myself up. Olivia wrote down only what she heard. I glimpsed over to the side. Petra still refused to look at me. Even though her eyes were glancing to the elsewhere, I could still see her bitterness and anger for me, burning up in her optics.
Olivia's perplexed glance scanned across the sheet of paper. "You're free to go, (Y/N)", she muttered under her breath, but loud enough for me to hear. My legs were unstable, but I had enough strength to lift myself up. As I stepped towards the door, I saw Petra wordlessly muttering malicious words as I walked off. I tenderly shut the door behind me.
"Axel, something doesn't seem right", Olivia sceptically exposed.
I pressed my back against the shut door. My pant was too quick for me to catch. What is wrong with me? It's like I'm trying to get caught. "Are you ok?". A voice abruptly caught me out of my thoughts. Jesse didn't hesitate to place a supportive hand on my shoulder. I attempted to show a fraudulent simper. "I'm fine", I muttered, peeping towards the hall. Jesse couldn't bear the sight of seeing me unsettled. He wanted to ease my agitated state. Although he didn't exactly know how. "I just want you to know...No matter what happens", Jesse conferred me a sombre yet reassuring smile. "I'm on your side".
I trimmed to show him a grateful beam. At least some good came out of this. But, I knew what I had to do. For the sake of me and everyone else. "I really appreciate that Jesse", I bestowed my gratitude towards him. "But, I feel like I should get some time alone to...think". Jesse was somewhat pessimistic over the news but, he didn't try to change my mind or talk me out of it. "Yeah. I guess that makes sense", he acknowledged, glancing to the floor. My orbs launched to the ground as I began to walk off. Before I reached the end of the hall, I gradually turned my head around. "I'm really sorry for all the problems I caused". Jesse graciously shrugged and unveiled that goofy and ditzy grin of his. The one that sends butterflies to tremble in my stomach. "Don't give yourself so much credit, (Y/N)", he heartened me. "It's not your fault all this happened". I faintly smiled at him and waved goodbye as he optimistically saluted me. Leaving the Hall in such a scandal was very difficult. Could I even go back without getting kicked out again?
My face was completely sunken in the grass. It thrilled and tingled my face. But, I didn't want to look up at the real world. I rolled onto my back and gazed up at the sky. From my perspective, it was dark. Gloomy. A big nothing. It practically described how I felt. While glimpsing at the atmosphere, I noticed a familiar figure in the corner of my eye. I leisurely rose up, to see Max. He was sitting on the luscious, dewy grass. His back leaned against the splintered wood as his dim orbs studied the page of his book. The book was made out of an imperial yet battered leather cover, and the pages were so dainty looking, even the most delicate fingers could unintentionally tear it. I guess I was watching for too long because soon after, he noticed me staring. He waved and gestured me to come and join him with a tender smile.
Uncertain, I stood up and made my way to him. I supported myself with my one hand and discreetly settled to the ground. "Hey, Max", I smiled, acknowledging him. "Hey! What are you doing here?", he asked, peering over my shoulder. "Why aren't you with your friends?". I mildly bit my lip and glanced away. "Something bad happened", I averted his gaze. Max chuckled morosely and gently pressed his fingers on the tip of the paper to turn the page. "Something bad always happens", he notified me, also thwarting eye contact. "There's no way to stop it after it happens". I lamented and ran my fingers through my hair. "Sometimes there is a way", I persistently responded. Max peered at me and beamed. "And sometimes there isn't. And it's not your fault", he explained. "Like your mother, for example. You didn't know the day she left that she wouldn't come back. You didn't know that the journey you made would result in you finding her dead". I began to agree with his reasoning. But, a moment after, I was left baffled. "Max...", I anxiously scrutinised at him. He glanced at me, querying what I was about to say. "How did you know?", I asked, perplexed. " I--What?", he faltered, tilting his head. "How did you know about my mum's death?". At first, he resembled to be nervous. He promptly looked away and declined to say a word. But after a while, he began to inaudibly chuckle. "Word does travel fast", he chortled, apprehensively.

"How did you suspect it was him causing all the havoc in town?", Olivia asked. I had to make this quick and to the point. "I read a couple books about him. And word travels fast".

I shook my head. That still doesn't make sense. I never told anyone about my mum except...Jesse. And Jesse didn't tell anyone. Was someone else in the room with us when we were talking? I rubbed my temples tenderly as my perception got hazy. How does he know? Unless--
"I can see talking about your dead parents makes you upset", he grimaced at my grief. "Do you want to go get an ice-cream? Just the two of us?".
