From the moment I caught a glimpse of a detonation from the corner of my eye, I knew not to take Herobrine's words lightly. Blocks of TNT fell quickly from the (seemingly) sky and blasted as soon as it hits the ground. Soon enough the entire Order was scrambling around like chickens released from their coops. Everyone was trying to lead, but nobody was doing it successfully.
"Lukas!! Do something!!".
"What am I supposed to do?!".
"Petra, why aren't you using your water bucket?!".
"I'm a little bit busy trying not to DIE!".
And she had a point. There was too much chaos being spewed to formulate a decent plan. So for a while, the unspoken plan was to stay alive and preferably uninjured. I caught a glance at Herobrine, his blood-thirsty grin disoriented me. He got a kick out of watching us run amok. There was no way we could beat him like this. Noticing a TNT block aiming for a spot in my path, I skidded to a stop and leapt out of the way before it could detonate. The floor scraped against my palm, sending a mild shock of pain up my hand. Not like I was focused on that at the moment. I can deal with a scraped hand, but a blown-up limb was a different story.
I stood up, my eyes still glued to the sky for any more sudden TNT, "Guys! We can't keep running like this!", I called out, "We need to do something!".
"No crap! But there's nothing we can do!", Axel blurted back, nearly choking on his own breath when he realised how close to the edge he was.
"(Y/N) is right! We need a plan! But we need to get closer!", Lukas' voice was barely heard over the explosions.
Petra's face scrawled, "Why?".
Lukas nodded his head towards the homicidal figure floating behind us, accelerating the rate of TNT falling. It was clear Lukas didn't want Herobrine overhearing our plan. We all simultaneously agreed to huddle up in the middle, me being the last one there.
" So, what's your plan", I asked Lukas.
He blinked, "What? I don't have a plan. I said we need a plan, not I have a plan".
"Incoming!".
We all disbanded, jumping out of the way before a TNT block made explosive contact with the ground. We quickly recollected ourselves and bunched back together.
A frown spread across my face, "This will be impossible! He's undefeatable!".
"How do we defeat the undefeatable?!", Olivia's voice came out in a heaved puff.
"We can't. This is it", Axel hung his head. I covered my face to block the impact from a nearby explosion. " We tried".
Petra leaned in and grabbed a fist full of his shirt, "There's no way we're giving up now. If we don't do something, the Beacontown is doomed. The surface world is doomed!".
Petra shoved him back forcefully, and I assumed it was out of spite. But the sudden TNT block detonating in his previous spot contradicted my thought. Axel landed on his back, groaning at the after-pain.
My voice trailed off and I whispered, " I wish Jesse was here".
"Yeah? Well, News Flash: He's not!", Axel grunted, regaining his footing.
I eyed the TNT blocks continuously dropping, then Herobrine floating above watching the show. I glanced down at my fishing hook, with its unusually sturdy string attached. I glanced at the edge, only showing a presumably infinite abyss. My eyes gleamed.
Olivia caught my look almost immediately, " I know that look", a smile played on her lips, "You have a plan?".
"Not so much as a plan as it is a gamble", I corrected her. "There's a huge chance it won't work".
"Oh, fantastic! Let's gamble the lives of hundreds of people", Axel's sarcasm rolled off his tongue as he spoke sardonically. "Anyone have a better idea?".
No one spoke.
Axel sighed and hid his face in his palm, "Fine. What's your plan?".
