Door after door, we busted.
The walls of the hospital sped by me as I tried to keep up with the stretcher that held the only possible hope of love in my life. Harry, Louis, Zayn, and Niall ran behind me as I tried pushing past the doctors in order to at least catch a glimpse of Liam's lifeless body.
I did not even realize I was crying until I touched my face, and my hand returned with wet tears all over them.
"Liam!" I shouted at the boy on the stretcher, "Liam, please wake up. Wake up, Liam. Wake up," I sobbed.
"Jess, we can't go there!" Harry's voice called out to me and grabbed my arm.
"NO!" I shouted as the four doctors sped away into another door.
"Jess, it's okay," Niall whispered into my ear. "It's okay."
"They'll take good care of him. They'll fix him," Harry assured as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders.
I collapsed on the floor in a shaking ball, trying to contain my screams.
"This is all my fault," I said in between breaths.
Zayn shushed me. "It's not your fault."
"It could have been anything," Louis added. "He's done these things before. I know it's not the bright side, but you were not the reason."
That only made me feel worse.
Why?
Why, of all people did it have to be me? Why was I the girl sitting in the midst of his four friends, hoping that he would come out of there alive? I don't know why I was the girl in pain, hoping for the best. That girl was not supposed to be me. I came into his life at the wrong time, and because of it, I'm stuck in this situation.
How did all this even begin?
