Jessie's P.O.V
Saturday was the first day without Liam. Today was supposed to be the day where I would help him find a job, but that's gone now. I spent today finishing up homework, then video chatting with my crew about getting together for a movie day.
That same day, I recieved a text message from Isaiah, asking me if I was alright. Of course I lied saying that everything was getting better, but he somehow knew I was nowhere close to feeling better. He told me to open up that card he got me the other day, and it once again sparked a little bit of brightness in my day.
The second day was Sunday. Today wasn't a day that I had plans with Liam, but almost every little thing reminded me of him. I saw a movie with Ava, Jay, Sterling and Sam today, and it had something to do with a really chubby robot who is someone's health care companion. Although Baymax, the robot, had nothing to do with Liam, the words he said made me respond to my pain from him.
"On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your pain?" Baymax asked Hiro on screen.
I sighed and sadly ate a licorice stick. "Ten..." I mumbled to myself. I'm pretty sure Sterling heard me, because he looked at me for a brief moment, then returned his attention to the screen.
Monday came along soon enough, and I saw Isaiah sitting alone during lunch. I asked him why, and he said he doesn't really want to be around the people he used to hang out with and it just wasn't the same. So, feeling bad for him, I invited him to hang out with us at the music room. The crew accepted him and we all actually got into a decent conversation. For the first time, I got through a day without checking over my shoulder for Liam.
However, at work, I had some hopes that he would show up like he said he shows up every week, but he never came. I was waiting for nothing, but hoping for something that was never coming. Once Vic tossed me the key to close up shop, I knew I had to stop waiting for the impossible.
Tuesday lingered on. I saw Liam from far away, today. He was heading towards the bathroom, and he almost caught me looking. It's a good thing I ducked into my classroom before I was caught. Also, I had no work, so I ended up staying over at Ava's house to do homework. I was so desperate to know if Liam was there, because he knows I don't work Tuesdays, that I nearly asked Ava to take me there. It's a good thing I didn't, because as I was going home, I drove by Barnes & Noble and found a familiar looking boy sitting outside, reading a book. And there, my heart shattered a little more.
Wednesday was not as bad as I thought it would be. I managed to get through the day without Liam on my mind every five minutes. Isaiah grew closer to my friends, and I guess we grew closer as well. He was regularly coming to the music room now, and no one seemed bothered by it. He really has changed as much as he said he did.
Just when I thought things could get better, Thursday came. I had to break the sad news to my brother and Nolan that Liam might not be able to go to their game on Saturday. Also, I had a private talk with Tristan about what had happened between me and Liam, and that broke him even more. He confessed that he believed he and Liam would get along well and that he actually liked him. Usually, Tristan doesn't like the guys that I am friends with, unless it was Jay or Sterling. This was a big deal if he liked Liam.
Finally, present day Friday came and storm warnings were posted on the news, which resulted in a canceled game for Tristan and his team. The week had not gone by as well as I thought, and it seemed that it was slowly getting worse for us. Throughout today, I felt absolutely sick to my stomach, and I had a really bad headache.
I pushed forward, and by the end of sixth period, I was almost dead. As soon as I got out of class, I called up Vic to call in sick.
"Are you sick, or are you heartbroken?" Vic asked to make a joke.
