33| Leo Makes His Mark

Percy leaned towards Piper, still clutching her arm, "He's. In. My. Head."

Piper tugged on her arm, starting to panic, "Who are you talking  about?!"

Percy let out another spine-tingling shriek, his hands recoiling back over his ears. 

Piper, now free, quickly taking a step back into Jason's chest, "Someone do something!" She squirmed, disturbed by the utter pain Percy was in.

But despite Piper's demand, everyone stood frozen... what could be done? Will ran out of the room, to do who knows what.

Nico moved from the corner he'd sunken into and walked right past Percy, to Leo. Leo's brow rose, but before he could say anything Nico struck him hard across the face. Leo's hands flared with fire, "What was that  for?!"

Nico reached out, grabbing Leo's right hand and pushing Leo's palm into Percy's shoulder. 

Piper screamed, Jason averted his eyes, and Hazel just stared in disbelief. Percy let out a low howl in pain.

A sizzling sound of skin quickly ceased, Leo immediately putting out his flames, yelling at Nico, "Are you insane?!"

Percy let out a grunt through his teeth, "Ah!" Then he sighed, "It's gone... thank the gods." Everyone just stared at Nico and the new handprint shaped burn on Percy's shoulder.

Leo just blinked, "I'm so  sorry, I didn't--" he just took a step back, breathing heavily.

Hazel frowned at her brother, "How did you even know that was going to work?"

Nico shrugged, "I just had a feeling it would snap him out of it. I'm really just glad it actually worked."

  Leo shook his head, "You can't just burn people, man!"

Will bolted through the door with a bucket of water and a rag, he stopped short, "What the—" his eyes widened at Percy's burn, looking around exasperated, "I was barely gone a full minute!"

Percy grimaced, but lazily smiled as he saw the water, he flicked his hand, and the water immediately rose from the bucket and floated in a stream to sooth Percy's wound.

Will dropped the now empty bucket and went to take a closer look at the still sizzling hole in Percy's shirt sleeve, "Oh my, okay first things first, someone run downstairs and grab my first aid kit, it's in the laundry basket Piper took. Percy, I need you to make sure that water is cold."

Will helped Percy in a sitting position and was very gentle with his arm. Piper quickly returned with the first aid kit, and everyone gave Will some space.

Will worked quietly, the first thing he did was take a pair of scissors and cut off Percy's shirt, being extremely careful, but he quickly found his first problem, "Percy, um, some of the fabric is seared to your wound. So I want you to fill the fabric with cool water, but either way, this is gonna hurt when I remove the sleeve."

Percy licked his lips then nodded, using his finger to send a small stream of water into the fabric, then without warning Will peeled the sleeve off as fast as he could. Percy cried out, clenching his teeth the whole time. Now with his sleeve gone, Will could properly examine the burn.

He sighed, "Whew, this is not half as bad as it could've been. It's only a first-degree burn. Percy soak that for a couple more minutes then I'll put some Aloe on it and bandage you up. If all goes well it should be gone by the end of the week," Will pulled some Ambrosia in a ziplock bag from his Kit, he handed a chunk to Percy, "Okay, now, whose idea was this?!" he motioned to Percy's burn.

There was silence.

Then Leo yelled, "It was all him!" pointing at Nico blatantly.

Will looked back at the wound, "Really? 'Cause this burn looks a lot like your handprint, Leo."

Leo threw his hands up in the air, "Nico slapped  me!"

"What?" Will frowned.

They quickly explained what happened, then Will gave Percy another chunk of Ambrosia and bandaged his burn, calling it good.

"Okay, Percy," Hazel looked at the clock, "We can talk about what just happened later, your mom will be back any minute and if you're still here she'll kick us to the curb," Hazel paused, "So, the quest? Are you in?"
