38| Causing More Havoc

"Me?" Percy frowned, "I hardly remember the girl."

"Right, but Percy you're her boyfriend. Erebus must think he can get to you by taking her," Piper explained. 

Percy, Piper, and Leo were in a cab behind the other four in another cab. Nico was giving the directions, he said he had an idea of how to figure out how to get to the Netherlands.

Percy just shook his head, "Whatever."

But Piper had no chance to reply, "A museum?" Leo asked raising a brow.

Piper looked out the window and sure enough, they were at The Metropolitan Museum. The others' cab was already letting them out at the front door, so Piper directed their taxi to do the same. When they stepped out she gave the drivers the last of the money.

"Okay, why are we at a building dedicated to boring?" Leo asked, scrunching up his nose.

Nico sighed, "Because, we're going to summon Eros."

"Huh?"

"We have to talk to Eros, he's our best bet in getting more information about his brother, and one of the most famous sculptures of him is in this museum," he shrugged.

"How'd you even know that?" Leo asked.

Will smiled, "He had our cab driver look it up on our way here."

The group started walking into the building's doors still asking questions.

"So how do we plan to summon Eros?" Piper frowned.

Nico's expression darkened, "Don't worry, he'll come.''

They waited in line and Piper 'won' free tickets for the whole group by somehow being the hundredth customer that day...

"I hate doing that," she grumbled.

Jason sighed, pulling her close to him, but having no reassuring words to say except a simple, "Yeah, I know."

Piper chuckled, "And it's just my luck because that's the only useful thing I can do to save Annabeth."

Jason blinked, "What?" He pulled her back, "Don't say that, charmspeak or none, we need you."

She shook her head, "I'm the one who started this mess in the first place!"

"No, listen to me, you made a tough choice but I'm starting to think it was the right one. No matter what we would've come to save Annabeth, and would need Percy's help to do it," he shrugged, "if Percy was still in that raging grief, one wrong move and he would've exploded, this way, even if he's a little... different, we can work with him."

Piper wiped away a tear, nodding, "You might be right. But either way, I'm done wallowing, let's just go save our friend," she said smiling, stretching up to kiss Jason on the cheek. Then they started after the rest of the group.

"Come on, I think it's this way," Hazel pointed.

"Have you been here before?" Will asked.

"No, I'm just sensing a Cupid shaped lump of bronze," she shrugged.

"Oh, cool."

She nodded, "It's effective."

They stopped at a statue of a winged child sleeping on a rock, "Is this it?" Percy frowned, "It's a little... small."

"It's supposed to be a life-like version of a small child," Nico said sighing, "Alright, cause a distraction, I'm gonna have to touch the statue."

"What?! Dude, there's like a million people here!" Leo gestured around them, and indeed there were quite a few people around them.

"That's why I need a distraction."

Jason frowned, "Like what?"

While they continued discussing what they could do Hazel looked around, "Hey, where'd Percy go?"

Riiinnnnggg! Riiinnnggg! Riiinnnggg!

The fire alarms suddenly went off, along with the water sprinklers overhead. The crowd crying out and quickly running for the exits. And then there came Percy bolting across the room shouting, "Go, go, go! Before they figure out there's no fire!"

Nico instantly went for the glass case around the sculpture, "Leo, can you melt a hole in the glass, and quick?"

"Um, I can try," he put his hand up to the glass and with a hissing sound, it started to melt away.

As the chaos was going on Piper turned to Percy, "How'd you set off the alarm, they're automatic, there's no fire alarm switch to pull."

He smirked, "I just lit a match in one of the empty rooms under a smoke detector."

"Where'd you get a match?"

"Your bag," he shrugged. "In the car when you weren't paying attention I grabbed a few things, just in case."

"What?"

"Okay come on guys! Take hands, and don't let go!" Nico shouted at the demigods. "Please let this work," he muttered under his breath as he stuck his hand in the hole Leo made and touched the statue.
