"What is it?" Victor asked tensing
Gustave..." CHrsitne said anxious
"What's wrong?" Victor asked her
"Gustave!" Christine said panickly
"What's wrong?" Victor said her
"He should be here! He was meant to be here!" CHristine said
Victor~
I rushed out of her dressing room furiously with Christine after me.
"It's that idiot Raoul!Why, I'll kill that drunken fool!That he'd dare take this child - -A child that isn't his!" I sang angrily. "Mr Squelch!" I called the man over
Squelch appears instantaneously.
"Sir..?" he asked me.
"Seal the port! Blockade each road!Call in every favour that I'm owed!I'll be damned if he leaves this isle!" I sang
"The Vicomte de Chagny left here in a carriage.Saw him with my own eyes, sir,there was no-one with him" Squelch sang.
I seized Squelch by the shirtfront, and pulls him withing an inch of my face. "Are you quite certain he left here alone?"I sang through clenched teeth.
Sir, was there anyone else here backstage?" Squeltch sang
Erik came over with Angeliwue and thier children.
" Yes...Yes! Madame Giry, she was here!With her vicious little sneer,and that comment she made - -The ungrateful, back-biting snake! She's been greedy, yes indeed - -She'll get hers now, guaranteed! Go now, quickly, bring her round!Bring the boy back safe and sound - -Then I'll tear her limb from limb " I sang.
"Victor what the hell is going on?" Agelique asked me.
"Madame Giry took Gustave." I said.
"That is impossible!" My sister snapped at me.
Gangle appears in the doorway, pushing Madame Giry in front of him.
"What is the meaning of this? How dare your minions manhandle me in this fashion? I demand an answer!" Madame Giry said furiously
I seized her roughly as the plan went into action. "The boy, woman! What have you done with him?" I snapped at her
"The boy? You think I took the boy? Why would I do such a thing. Do you think I don't know who he is?" Giry answered me. "All these years,who has been faithful more than I?No-one!" she sang
"Giry..." I said to her warningly as Christine went over to Erik and Angelique.
"All these years,how can you think I'd hurt that child?" Giry asked me singing.
"My patience is running dry..." I snapped at her shoving her away from me
"All these years,I've been mother to you and Christine,as much as my daughter..." Giry sang
"Enough!" I yelled at her
"Do you thinkI don't know how it hurtsto see one's own child brought to harm?"
"Gustave! Gustave! Gustave..." I called out desperately then i slump,hopeless.
"Sir..?" Fleck said to me quietly. We all looked at her. "I just passed Meg's dressing room...It was empty as a tomb...But her mirror was smashed,all in pieces on the floor." Fleck sang.
I looked up with Christine, Angelique and Erik.
"Meg..?" Angelique asked.
"God, I left her so distraught!" Giry sang and then turned to me and Christine panikly. "Please, who knows just what she thought?" she asked. I'm afraid she's come undone.But she won't hurt him...Meg would never hurt him...How could she hurt him..?" She sang half spoken
I had gone very still.
"I know where they've gone. But we must hurry!" I said to them
"In that crowd? There are millions of people out there..!" Giry said
"Gystave, my poor Gustave..!" Chrsitne said as Angelique held her hand
Suddenly, decisive, "There's no time to waste..!" I said and ran with Erik, Angelique, Christine and Giry to bring back my son from Meg.
"Gustave!" Christine called out with Angelique
Third Person~
Mobs of people everywhere, a vast hallucinatory circus. Victor, Angelique, Erik, Christine and the rest whirl about as if in a fog, lost in thecrush of humanity.)
"Gustave! Gustave!" Chrisitne, Erik and Angelique called out
"You there, stop!" Victor said
A small figure is seen being pulled along. Victor forces his way through the crowd, puts a hand on the figure's shoulder... But when the figure turns, it is a leering, laughing dwarf...
That's not him...
"Meg!" Madame Giry and Angelique called out
"I think I see them, this way!" Erik said
Another small figure is seen, hand in hand with a Young woman... Surely this must bet hem!
Christine seizes the child. "Gustave, is that - - ?" But when she grabs the figure and turns it around, it's only a girl andher mother. "I'm so sorry..."
"Meg, please, it's OK!" Angelique called out to Meg
"To the pier now, hurry!" Erik said
The impressionistic barrage of sounds and faces intensifies... Then suddenly in a great rush... Silence.
