I take a quick shower and threw on whatever shirt I found on the ground. Mom found that really gross but Kellin and I really didn't care. He and I practically share the same clothes, but mostly his. I find one of his Metallica shirts and my button down and wore that. As for pants, shoes, and underwear, that's where we drew the limit. I enter the kitchen and brushed my teeth.
"Mom, Kell and the guys are having a party tonight, can I go?"
"Kat, that's the second one this week..." There's definitely worry in her voice.
"You know I don't become too reckless mom, and plus "Uncle Dave's" coming over tonight right?"'
She flushes red. "Yeah, yeah..."
Dave's a cop in the Vegas line. He was good and loyal to mom, so he and I didn't really have a problem with each other. He made mom happy, and that's all that mattered. We remember Dad, of course we do, but he's long gone and we don't really care anymore. Dave's here and he's so much better than our own dad.
Junior year started today for me, and senior year for Kellin. "Kat, hurry the fuck up!" he shouts. "Watch your language!" Mom counters. I mentally laughed, grabbed my bag, and got out. "Bye mom!" we both yell and began walking to the bus stop.
"So Junior year..." Kellin starts.
"Blegh, new school, new people, new surroundings - blegh!" I respond.
"Oh come on don't be like that."
"Oh I will be, and it's easy for you to say, you already have friends at Shadow Ridge and you're likeable"
We moved here to Vegas over three months ago, but not exactly into a house. We couldn't afford the luxury so Dave got us the best next things, a trailer, an old school bus, and two giant containers - you know those once for shipping things. Anyways, we converted those shits and voila we got a makeshift house. The bus was mine, mom had the trailer, and Kellin got the containers.
Another thing was we stole electricity from the city, Dave knew, but he loved mom too much to even care. Water on the other hand was rain water - Kellin was sort of a geek so he devised this whole blah blah blah, anyways we have clean, running water, electricity, and cable.
We make it to the bus stop just in time; people were already piling in so we ran for it. People gave us stares, but Kellin told me to shrug it off. I catch this girl staring. She looked so girly and mean, but her facial expression said friendly. She gives me a faint smile, and I did one in return.
"Kellin, people are staring..."
"Let them, they don't know about us, so let em."
I just shrugged and hid my face till we made it to school. We waited for everyone to get down and got out the bus as well. I drag him to the office where we got our schedules and locker numbers.
"Oh my god look what she's wearing." A girl whispers.
Are you fucking kidding me, in the beginning of the year, really?! "Ignore it" Kellin hisses and glares at them. Thankfully our lockers were right next year other. I hear more whispers and my blood boils.
"Dude, chill the fuck out, you've dealt with people like that before."
"I know but, gah, never mind. So, Chase's party?"
"Oh that, yeah, there's gonna be alcohol and smoking, you can't stay for long."
"What, why?! Mom said I can go!"
