I was currently in the restroom, the after school bell had just rang and I decided to take the time and just have a moment to myself. The girls were busy – they were assigned to be in charge for the upcoming Winter Formal. Knowing them, it’ll doubtlessly be the best one ever.
I had the handicapped stall all by myself. unlike in other schools this one had its own sink and mirror. Pulling my shirt off, the bruises stood out. Blotches of purple, red, and black were all I saw. And finally there it is— the nosebleed.
“Crap…”
I tilt my head back and did the usual routine. Finally, the nosebleed ended. I cleaned up and pulled out the extra shirt I had. Well it was Kellin’s shirt… I push the door open and finally got out of there. Kellin stood where I last left him.
“Took yah long enough”
“Sorry, just had a nosebleed…”
“That’s been happening more often, we should check up with Doc”
“No, it’s okay. Let’s just wait till the weekend and we’ll pay him a visit”
Kellin just nods. I sit in the truck as he started it. Gosh is it me, or do I feel extra tired today. My phone beeps – Mark.
“Hey Kat (:”
Hey, what’s up?
“Eh some clouds, stars, and I think that one’s a satellite. How about you?”
Pff good one, but not much heading to work
“You shouldn’t tire yourself out”
Mark, it’s just clothes
“Yeah but still”
I’ll be fine, now I gotta go, text me later
“Will do babe”
“Ooh, is Katherine’s boyfriend checking up on her?”
I yank the wheel, and the truck lost control on the road. A few cars honked at us, while I laughed, Kellin glared, but it was his fault anyway.
“Dude not cool”
“I wouldn’t have done that if you didn’t say anything” I laughed
“Well, it’s true anyways. I mean come on, Mark’s all protective over you, he checks up on you, and all this shit. How can he not like you?”
“Kellin, he seriously doesn’t. He told me himself.”
“What do you mean he told you himself?”
“After your little drunken incident, I got curious and I asked him. He said he just sees me as a friend and nothing more.”
“Your voice cracked, why did your voice crack, did that cunt hurt you?”
“What? No? I don’t – anyways, moving on. I’m just a friend to him, and vice versa. Now please, quit the whole Mark-Boyfriend thing.”
“Hmm fine, and alright. Starbucks later?”
I give him a simple “Yeah” and got out the truck and into the building. Grace greets me as always. Today the Winter dresses came, but not ready to be put out until I got mine – Grace’s decision, gotta love her. I got excited in a way, since duh, it’s Winter Formal. Business was slow today, so Grace and I got to work.
