Twenty One

        I messed around with my head piece for about the millionth time. I don’t know why but it always feels like it’s about to fall off. Kellin seized my hand, but smiled at me.

“Dude, chill the fuck out, you look great”

I sighed. “I’m sorry, I –“

“No shush, you’ll have fun tonight and we’ll make sure of it.”

            We were on our way to the hotel. The school, meaning Carly, found it much more appropriate to have the Winter Formal up there rather than in our own gym. Anyways, long story abridged, they somehow managed to pull out the money for this night.

I turn my thoughts on Kellin; he didn’t look too bad in a black tie. Unlike him who was cool and collected, I’m here freaking out about every single thing.

“Children, we are here!” Mom yelps excitedly.

We got down, but before we could enter mom stops us. “Katherine, you look so beautiful”

I smiled down at her. “Hey, you helped me look this way mom”

            Truth be told, she did. She made sure the dress fit right, I had the correct head wear, and the perfect shoes. In the end, she made me look stunning. Hell, I can’t even recognize myself. Kellin and I hug them goodbye and slowly made our way to the top floor.

“You look great too Kell”

He smirks. “Pff I know”

            He turns to me and started fussing around with my hair. Mostly just patting it down and removing the ones on my face. The elevator opens to reveal a long hallway. I hold onto Kellin’s arm as he led the way.

            The loud music and flashing lights kind of gave away the venue’s spot but hey we made it just in time. There were a few people ahead of us; I guess there was a photo booth or something. Soon, we were on the little platform. Ah, it’s the Photography class. I fix Kellin’s top hat and adjusted his mask.

“Ready?” one of them spoke out.

Kellin gives a thumbs up and I just smiled. The flash was terribly bright, but it was just one picture. I hear some squealing and shrieking and was soon engulfed in a huge group hug.

“Oh my god Kat, you look so awesome!” Topanga yells.

“I’m like right next to you, you don’t have to scream it!”

“I’m sorry” she gives a puppy face, but I hug her anyway.

“Smile girls” Melanie holds out her phone, we smile, and then click.

“Oh we look great in that” Carly says and I nod.

“KAT!”

“Oh my god Grace, Austin, hey!” I embrace them both.

“Aye, you lookin’ great there” Austin says.

“Not so bad yourself Chamberlain” I smiled.

            We ended up getting a table since we were pretty much cock blocking the way. Kellin and Austin got drinks just about the same time Jordan, Chris, Lance, and Chase arrived. Eventually, our table got filled up with everyone I loved and cared for. It was a definitely a picture perfect scene.

“We need a picture” I piped up.

“Definitely!” Kellin joins in and pulled out his phone.

“Hey, you over there come here and take a picture of us!”

“Quit being mean” I whispered.
