Teary Taehyung

Jungkook smiles. He picks his hand back up, and this time he really does stroke Taehyung's hair.

Then Jungkook sings not only Taehyung to sleep, but himself too.

The Next Morning

The boys wake up early the next morning, and Jungkook's hand is still on Taehyung's hair. Jungkook snatches it away when he sees Taehyung's confused expression.

"My hand must have... accidentally gone there while we were sleeping," Jungkook mutters, "Anyway, we must get going, look at the time."

The pair walk to the building, neither of them talking. When they arrive, seonsaengnim is standing at the front, her bulky arms crossed.

"Archery," she announces, "Today we will be doing archery. As I have already told you, you are training separately, so Hanguks, please follow me. Hanguls, please follow Gyosoonim."

She gestures towards an old man. He is wearing a Rice Hat, so Jungkook can't see his face. All the Hanguks, including Taehyung, follow Seonsaengnim and Jungkook and the rest of the Hanguls follow Gyosoonim.

Gyosoonim takes them to a corner of the field, neatly lined with targets. Next to the targets, there are huge bows and arrows. Jungkook has never seen a bow so big.

"Archery," Gyosoonim begins, everyone giggling at his strange accent, "Is not as easy as you think. For example, if you are attempting to kill someone with a bow and arrow, even if you are a couple millimeters off, the enemy might not die and attack you. I will show you how it is done."

He picks a bow and arrow up, and stretches the bow (with the arrow) so that his left arm is completely straight. Jungkook can tell that his face, though it is covered by a rice hat, is very determined and concentrated. He admires how expertly Gyosoonim looked.

Finally he shoots the arrow and it lands almost perfectly in the middle. Everyone gasps and claps.

"Now, who'd like to try first?" Everyone eagerly puts their hand up, excluding Jungkook. Of course Gyosoonim looks at Jungkook in the eye and picks him.

Jungkook has no idea how to do this. Gyosoonim hands him a bow and arrow and nods at Jungkook to shoot. He tries to copy Gyosoonim's position, with his arm straight.

He aims.

He takes a deep breath...

And shoots.

He searches for the arrow, but it is nowhere to be seen on the target. Instead it is attached to a tree, quite a distance away from the target. Everyone bursts into laughter.

"Good... try," Gyosoonim sighs.

The archery training passes by quickly after that, as it was so boring, and now it is time for lunch.

Jungkook walks to a canteen - looking thing in the building. All of the Hanguks are already seated, Taehyung on his own at the back. He looks very depressed.

Jungkook walks up to him and stands next to him, but Taehyung doesn't acknowledge his presence.

After watching a sad, teary-eyed Taehyung for fifteen minutes, he finally nudges him,

"Hey Taehyung. Um... what's wrong?"

Taehyung looks down and says,

"I don't want to say in here. Can we go somewhere private?"

Jungkook nods and leads Taehyung out of the canteen and into a quiet corridor. Taehyung looks around to check if anyone is near him, and suddenly bursts into tears. His sobbing breaks Jungkook's heart - his tears are so meaningful, so deep, so utterly painful.

Jungkook looks at him awkwardly, not knowing what to do because he doesn't know how to comfort people.

"What's wrong?" he repeats, attempting to have a soothing tone.

"My... my grandmother," he blubbers, swallowing, "P-passed away this morning," the tears streaming down his face are uncontrollable.

Taehyung quietly laments over his grandmother for quite a while after that, but then he mumbles,

"Can I have a hug... please."

Jungkook, almost tearing up because of Taehyung, immediately hugs him tightly.

Taehyung, shocked by the younger's action, eventually lays his head on Jungkook's muscular shoulder and cries some more.
