"You don't need that." Adrian said as I tried to pack my flat irons into my suitcase.
He hadn't moved an inch, as he laid sprawled out on my bed, but he made sure to comment on everything that I put into my luggage. I was busy packing for the trip to Tahiti and discovered that doing so in his presence was a mistake.
I balled up the closest article of clothing and threw it at him. "You pack it then."
He pulled the black material from his head and examined the pair of lace panties as his eyebrows slowly rose. "Definitely bring these."
I snatched them out of his hands and quickly finished packing the overstuffed suitcase before zipping it shut.
I rolled the suitcase out to the front door where my other bag was perched against the wall and returned to my room to finish getting ready. It may not have been the best idea to wait until the day of to start packing, but I'd been so busy with work that I was too tired to do anything. I'd thankfully done laundry the night before, but I ultimately fell slept with the pile of clean clothes at the foot of my bed. So, as not to be late, I woke up extra early to pack and straighten up my place.
With a little time to spare, I escaped to the bathroom and took a nice shower then put on the olive nike joggers and a random old graphic tee. I didn't see the need to get dressed up for the almost 24 hours that we'd have to travel to get to Bora Bora. Plus, Adrian was already dressed comfortably in his black Adidas joggers and grey sweatshirt.
Once I brushed my teeth again and pulled my hair into a high bun I was ready.
After showering Bear with enough love, attention, and snacks to last the duration of the trip, I gave my mom specific instructions as to how to take care of him and headed out the door, with Adrian on my heels.
Instead of driving to the airport, we elected to take an Uber forty-five minutes to avoid the substantial parking fees. It was another hour and a half on top of that before we were walking through security and towards our designated gate, which seemed to be miles away. I was grateful that I decided to wear my flyknit vapormax for the first time because they were proving to be extremely comfortable.
My somewhat irritated mood from the ten mile hike to the terminal diminished once my eyes landed on the plush seating area in the gate. I wasted no time in finding a seat far enough away from the people already seated in the area, but close enough to actually hear the announcements, and plopping down. Soon after, Adrian strolled over and took the seat next to me.
"How long until we board?" I questioned, not bothering to look towards the monitors with such information.
"About an hour." I groaned internally. "You want something before we get on?" He asked, referring to the hundreds of restaurants and stands scattered throughout the massive airport.
I nodded my head, since the bowl of cereal I had for breakfast was wearing off.
"What do you want?" He inquired while standing and straightening his shirt.
"Hm." I tapped my chin as my mind shuffled through the various food options before giving up. "Surprise me."
An evil smirk flashed across his face before he responded with a simple 'okay' and scampered away before I could say anything more.
I shook my head at him and reached into my purse, grabbing my phone to call Olivia. After going to my recent contacts, I tapped her name. The phone went straight to voicemail, so I hung up and tried calling again only to get the same result. Instead of calling her again, I left a voicemail to let her know that we'd be leaving soon and that I'd call her the next day when we landed.
