"Hand me one of those screws over there." I pointed to the neat pile of medium screws that were a little too far for me to reach.
Olivia huffed and put down the family sized bag of hot Takis, removing herself from the spot in the corner to retrieve the screw.
"I don't know why you didn't just get the stuff that was already put together." She remarked with a mouth full of Takis.
"We'd be done if you actually helped."
I'd already put together the bed frame and two nightstands by myself and now I was working on the dresser. The room was definitely coming together nicely.
"But my nails." She argued looking them over.
For as long as I could remember, Olivia had always been a girly girl. I, on the other hand, preferred to play with the boys rather than in makeup. That phase changed once I got into high school, but I still had a few tomboy tendencies. One being, wanting to put my handy skills together to build the entire bedroom set.
I glared at her. "You and your nails are gonna be sleeping on the floor with Bear if you keep playing."
She groaned, but soon made her way over to help me finish the piece. It took no more than an hour before the entire room was assembled. We spent close to another hour cleaning up and decorating before the room was complete.
By the time we were done, it was well into the afternoon and we were nearly starving.
"What do you want to eat?" I questioned Olivia as we both plopped down onto the couch.
She played with the ends of her goddess braids, in deep thought before answering with a shrug.
"Well, I don't have a problem with going to the bodega up the block and grabbing a chopped cheese."
Liv sat up, looking at me with a confused expression. "First of all, what the hell is a chopped cheese? Second, what the hell is a bodega? And lastly, can't we just get cute and go somewhere?"
"Ugh! I just want to be a bum today!" I exclaimed dramatically as I buried myself further into the couch cushion.
"No!" The next thing I knew, I was being hit repeatedly with one of my decorative couch pillows. "Get up!"
I snatched the pillow out of her hand before she could hit me again and popped her in the side of her head.
"Ouch!" She whined, rubbing her head.
I took a few moments before standing from the couch and heading to my room to get ready. I knew I'd have more than enough time to slow around because Olivia was one of those people that took forever and a day to get ready.
After showering, I moisturized my body and re-brushed my teeth before lounging around in my robe for close to an hour. During that time I was able to get a bit of work done since I was too busy entertaining Liv to do any.
Once I got to an acceptable stopping point, I pulled myself from the bed and went to my closet to find an outfit. After browsing through the color coordinated rack, I settled on a black body hugging mini dress with a pair of black strapped heels.
It was simple, yet cute.
I took very little time applying light makeup and then spent a little more time straightening my naturally curly hair. Since it'd been so long since I'd straighten it, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had grown almost halfway down my back.
I checked the time and figured Olivia had to be almost ready by now, as it had been over two hours since we started getting ready. I slid the dress on and completed the look by adding a simple, thin black choker and a couple thin accent necklaces along with a cute pair of earrings that I had yet to wear. Before putting on my shoes I exited my room to be sure that Olivia was in fact ready.
