"Please don't make me go back." I whined.

Adrian chuckled, causing the side of my face to vibrate against his bare chest as he continued gliding his fingers lightly up and down my spine.

"You don't have to." He responded as if it were that simple.

I propped my head up, resting my chin on his chest, in order to get a good look at his face in the dimly lit room. His eyes were already on me and they still seemed to sparkle, even in low light.

I took a deep breath and laid back down. The strong steady beat of his heart and at the gentle strokes of his finger tips were all but rocking me to sleep.

It was our last night on the beautiful island and leaving was the last thing I wanted to do. Over the course of the week I'd gotten to know Adrian on a much deeper level. Just being around his family brought out a different side of him. His quiet, closed off, side was left back in New York and I could see that he was genuinely happy.

"I wish I could, but we both know that's not possible."

I could see him nod out of my peripheral. "We can always come back."

I nodded slightly in response and made myself even more comfortable against him. Just as I began to fall asleep there was a ton of commotion and a loud banging on our bedroom door that snapped me out of my sleepy state.

It was well past midnight, so whatever it was had to been important for them to be knocking at such a time. Adrian rolled out of the bed and stalked to the door where another round of banging rang out. He snatched the door open to reveal a disheveled Lo.

"Yo, come get her!" Was all he said before taking off in a full sprint down the hallway and down the stairs.

Adrian looked as confused as ever, but despite his confusion, he hastily followed Solomon.
Completely ignoring the fact that I only had on one of Adrian's t-shirts with a pair of boyshorts, I made my way downstairs as well since I could hear that was where everyone was congregating. However, nothing could prepare me for the scene ahead.

Just as I got within eyesight of the living room my eyes grew wide. There, sitting half naked on the couch, was a completely belligerent Nia. Multiple bottles of liquor littered the coffee table along with a shiny silver handgun.

Marcus was trying to talk to her, but she seemed to be unfazed by his words as she stared straight through him. Suddenly she stood up and stumbled over to where Adrian stood at the bottom of the staircase with Lo and Carissa.

"You!" She shouted, pointing an accusing finger straight into Adrian's face. "You did this to me!"

He grabbed her by her shoulders in order to halt her from moving any closer to him. "You need to calm down."

The bass and authority in his voice seemed to suck all of the air out of the room as everything halted. But it only lasted mere seconds before Nia sent a sharp smack right across his face.

Right as I went to descend to steps, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me.

"It's okay. He's got it." Riley's voice sounded in my ear. I tried again to escape her hold, but her grip was way too tight. "I promise he's got it, Snick. Trust me."

I let out an angry puff of air as I was forced to let the events play out before me.

"Don't you tell me to calm down, Adrian!" She belted. "I mess up one time and you continue to make me pay for it! You claimed that you've forgiven me but you go and bring this fat, black, bitch here to taunt me!"
