"Are you sure you don't need anything?" I spoke into the receiver of my phone.

The deep sigh could be heard quite clearly. "Yes, honey. Don't you worry yourself about me. I am fine. And I promise that I will call you if anything changes."

Bad thoughts began to swirl through my head such as the fact that she wasn't physically capable to call me the last time something bad happened.

"Bella," my mother cut into my thoughts, "I will be fine, baby."

I'd been taking her to every scheduled appointment with her doctor, to physical therapy, and anywhere in between to get her back on her feet. That, on top of doing little exercises at home with me or Monique, her in-home RN, proved to be just what she needed as she was ahead of schedule when it came to her recovery.

I let out a breathy sigh before giving in. "Alright."

After hanging up the phone with her, I quickly composed a text to Monique with instructions that I was sure she already had burned into her brain by now.

She was beyond amazing and I couldn't wait to write her a bonus check along with a recommendation letter, singing her praise, once my mother got back to full health.

"Can I have my date back now, please?"

I looked back over to where Adrian was sitting on the couch after putting my phone away.

"Sorry." I made my way over to him and reclaimed my place, straddling his lap. I took his face into my hands and pecked his soft lips a few times, allowing the last to linger a bit longer than the rest. "Where were we?"

With so much going on, the two of us hadn't been able to spend much time together outside of the gym or an occasional lunch date. So, when we were able to coordinate a night that worked with our schedules, we jumped at the chance to have some one on one time.

The night started out with us meeting up with Riley and Marcus who were in town to finalize a deal on a property that Riley was planning to convert into a nightclub. We had dinner and went to a comedy club before calling it a night and going back to his place.

Tonight was my first time being in his home in all of the time we'd been together and it wasn't exactly what I'd imagined, but it fit him perfectly. Adrian lived about twenty minutes away from me in a beautiful modern studio apartment. It had an industrial loft feel with the exposed brick exterior walls as well as the huge, floor to ceiling windows lining them. his decor was limited, however it didn't feel empty.

"I thought you wanted dessert." He reminded, running his hands up and down my back.

I bit my lip because the dessert that he was referring to was the furthest thing from my mind.

"Come on." He noticed the look on my face and laughed before standing from the couch, picking me up along with him. He carried me all of the way to the kitchen and sat me on top of the counter.

"I don't want food." I whined, wrapping my arms around his neck. "I just want you."

Adrian and I only had sex that one time in Bora Bora and he definitely left me wanting more ever since. I thought that after we finally did it, I'd be satisfied and my hormones wouldn't be as tightly wound, but it had the complete opposite effect.

In response, he pressed a kiss to my lips then dipped down to place kiss after kiss on my neck, trailing down my collarbone, before returning to my lips.

"Can we play a game." I blurted once he broke the kiss.

He only rose his eyebrow in anticipation of what I had in mind.
