As he hugged me, I felt my stomach rumble loudly. Damn it, I hope he didn't notice that. I raised my head to hear,
"Wow, we better get some food into that demanding stomach." He chuckled, making my face warm.
"I was planning on making something new tonight if you want to join me...but it's totally fine if you already have plans. You probably already do an-" His finger met my lips, silencing me.
"Vidhi, what else would I have to do on a Monday night? I'd love to join you for dinner. There's no way I'd give up a chance at your cooking." He answered. Internally beaming with pride, I unlocked my apartment door and silently hoped I hadn't left anything too weird out.
"Wow, you got a lot unpacked in such a short time. If you ever want help, let me know. I'm just a few steps away...literally." Giggling, I dropped my purse on the side chair and headed to the kitchen.
"So...I was thinking of making something a little out there. You still like spicy food, right?" I checked before announcing my experimental dish for the evening.
"Yup! I think it was your paneer creations that kept me hooked. So what is this 'out there' item?" He asked, coming up to stand beside me. Drumming on the countertop, I announced,
"Baked vada pav!"
"Wait, just to make sure I'm envisioning the same thing, it's the spicy potato burger pressed inside of a fluffy bun with that wonderfully flavorful powder, right?" as I nodded, he continued, "So, how does the baked version work? Is the patty baked into the bread?" Terrence guessed as he picked up the bag of potatoes. Clapping excitedly, I beamed,

"Ding, ding, ding! You ready?" The suppressed smile on his face was answer enough. Pulling out the necessary baking sheets, mixing bowls, and bowl scrapers, I directed him to my old-fashioned recipe box to the letter V to find the Baked Vada Pav recipe card. I know, I know, I'm utterly old-fashioned with the recipe cards and alphabetical organization.
"Wow, you've definitely added more cards to this collection since the last time I've seen this box," Terrence remarked as he flipped through the cards and I took out the flour.
"Well, I've picked up quite a few recipes over the years. Do you want to get started on the dough?" I stated as I put the potatoes in the boiling water.
"Sure thing, still have those color-coded measuring cups?" He inquired, raising a playful eyebrow.
"Why would I ever get rid of those? They are in the drawer to your left. Also, music?" I asked, covering the boiling water and potatoes.
