Note: This is brief, non-graphic synopsis of Chapter 27 (and some of Chapter 26) for those who didn't want to miss part of the story.
Directly following the events of Chapter 26, Vidhi and Terrence drive back to their apartments. Vidhi's feelings during the drive are described in more detail, including how she is experiencing dark thoughts and how her mother's constant criticism and fixation on perfection have hurt her.
Terrence is extremely concerned, but can't seem to get through to her "mask" (the smile she puts on to assure everyone she's alright). Instead, he programs something into her phone and drives her home. She turns down the offer of his company. However, she continues to act oddly throughout the entire drive, even though she continues to insist that everything is fine.
They reach the apartments and, once inside her own home, Vidhi has a mental breakdown. The results of her ignoring her high-functioning "smiling" depression and repression are that, now that her walls have crumbled, she must face everything she was avoiding. Her mother's harmful words still muddling her mind and her emotions out of control, she accidentally hurts herself.
She retreats to the bathroom to take care of her wound, remembers her loneliness and sorrow, and attempts to take her life by overdosing on over-the-counter medication.
After taking the medicine, she returns to her room and receives a call on her phone. She ignores the call, throwing her phone across the room, and curls up in bed. She hears something and sees the lights in her room being turned on before the scene essentially "fades to black".
