Carrying the pan of cinnamon rolls to my car, I heard Terrence yell from the door,
"Want some help?"
"Everything is on the countertop," I yelled back, thankful for not having to carry all the trays by myself. Coming through my door, he handed me two more trays and turned back to grab the last two. When he came back for the final time, he asked,
"You feeding the whole town?"
"No, just saving my father from my mother's diet health food," I answered, closing the back doors.
"Have fun and Merry Christmas, Vidhi." He wished, giving me and my puffy jacket a hug.
"Merry Christmas, Terrence. Say hi to your family for me." I said, getting into my car.
"I will!"

Pulling into the driveway, I saw none of the usual decor or lights. Sighing, I got out of the car, up the stairs, and rang the doorbell. My dad opened the door, a smile lighting up his face when he sees me on the stoop. Opening the door and ushering me in, he encased me in a hug before inquiring,
"Is there anything in the car that needs to be brought inside?" Nodding, we went to the car and unloaded the rest of the food items.
Walking into the foyer, the glow of lights I had grown accustomed to throughout my childhood was not present. Venturing further into my childhood house, I landed in the kitchen, where unsurprisingly enough, my mother was cooking.
"Hello, mother. I made some stuff and brought it over. Dad and I put it down on the formal dining room table." I greeted her, trying to mask the uneasiness in my voice.
"Hello beta. Bring it to the island. What did you bring?" She responded, following me to the formal dining room.
"Butternut squash toasts, mashed potatoes, and vegetarian gravy, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce. For dessert, apple pie." I stated, going down the line of containers.
Looking mildly impressed, she told me she had made lasagna and the spicy asparagus that I like.
