His nimble fingers are fiddling with a coin. A quarter, to be exact.
He sets it on the edge of the counter he sits behind, making sure it's stable enough to not fall right off.
He raises a shaky hand to hover right underneath the edge that is hanging over.
A quick flick,
"He shoots, he scores!" Tyler faux cheers as the coin flies across the table, through an invisible goal.
As the cheers die out, all that's left is the quiet of the empty gas station. The refrigerators giving off a low hum. That weird buzzing noise the one lightbulb makes.
Tyler sighs, sitting back and looking out the sticker-covered window, watching as the sun is just barely coming up.
He works really inconvenient times; from midnight to seven in the morning.
Aka, never having customers, to as soon as people start getting gas before going to work, someone else comes in to take their shift.
He should be glad he doesn't have to do anything and still gets paid, but it's so boring.
Tyler yawns, resting his head in his hands with a small pout.
Imagine that, big scary Tyler Joseph pouting because his job at the gas station is boring.
Contrary to popular belief, Tyler Joseph is not a mafia lord or gang leader.
He's a cashier.
But people fear what they don't know, I guess.
The timer rings, signalling that his shift is almost up, and he sighs.
He tidies up the mess he made on the front desk, and then quickly goes around to sweep up the non-existent dirt that the non-existent customers left.
His co-worker, Trever, comes in to take over.
"Any juicy stories, squirt?" He asks as he shrugs on his work shirt.
Tyler purses his lips, setting the broom aside,
"Well, if you count the homeless man taking a shower in our sink a juicy story, then yes." He says, removing his name tag and stuffing it into his backpack.
Trever snorts, before letting out a groan, "Damn it. I'm gonna have to clean up whatever juices he left behind," He fakes a shiver.
Tyler laughs, waving the older man goodbye and leaving the store, but not before grabbing a coffee on his way.
And then he starts his trek toward school. School doesn't start until 8, so he's good to just walk slowly, taking his time.
He finishes his coffee way too soon, throwing the empty cup in the nearest garbage bin. With nothing to focus on now, he decides to pop in his headphones.
A Day To Remember is playing but he isn't really focusing on it. Nor is he focusing on his surroundings. He shouldn't be surprised when he bumps into someone,
"Shit!" The boy curses as he drops his phone on the ground, thankfully face up.
"Sorry..." Tyler mumbles, taking out one of his headphones.
The boy looks up in shock, before he slowly starts to smirk.
Oh brother, here we go.
"Tyler Joseph," there it is, "Where are you going? Off to rob a bank?"
Tyler sighs, rolling his eyes,
"Yes, of course. Why else would I be wearing a backpack? I'm going to rob a bank in broad daylight and stuff the money in right next to my Algebra textbook." He says with a straight face.
The boy, whose name Tyler thinks is Jacob, scowls at him.
"Oh, fuck off. Fuckin' druggy..." He mumbles, pushing past Tyler and walking away.
Tyler raises his hands, "You talked to me," He scoffs, rolling his eyes. He thinks about what the boy said.
Druggy.
Huh.
You see, the funny thing about people harassing him about having gone to jail, is that nobody seems to know why exactly he was in jail.
And Tyler intends to keep it that way.
He lets them have their fun. He watches them whisper as he walks by. He sees the fear in the freshmen's eyes. He lets them conjure up their own horrible things that he apparently did.
He lets them think he's a mysterious bad boy with a mysterious past filled with mysterious mysteries.
Because he knows what happened. He's learning from it, and that's all that matters to him. Growing from it.
Although people calling him a murderer and druggy gets on him nerves sometimes, and the fight he got in yesterday was a big step back. He's working on it.
Whatever. He really doesn't know how the rumours got so out of hand, where on Earth they got murder from, but he does know that one day, very soon, nobody is going to care anymore.
He doesn't notice that he's at school until the bell rings.
Jumping out of whatever blank state he was in, he starts to walk to class.
He can't help but stare at a certain fluffy-haired boy as he passes.
Tyler sends him a wink, smirking at Josh's wide eyes before turning into his classroom.
Brendon watches the blush light up Josh's cheeks and boy, he can't wait to tease him about it.
