Something doesn't quite feel right when Josh wakes up the next morning.

He sits up groggily and numbly walks down the hall toward the kitchen when his mother calls him in for breakfast.

He almost comically itches the side of his head in confusion as to what feels so... wrong?

Even when Brendon picks him up, he can't quite put his finger on it.

"Why do you look so constipated?" Brendon snorts.

Josh reels back, letting out a small scoff as he buckles his seatbelt.

"I don't look constipated..." He mumbles unsurely, flexing his mouth out of the previous grimace it was stuck in.

Brendon quirks a brow but thankfully changes the subject away from bowels,

"Whatever. Anyway, where did you go last night?" He asks.

Josh tilts his head, "What do you mean?"

Brendon lets out an offended sound, "Well you ditched me." He says sourly, and Josh furrows his eyebrows, "You told me not to pick you up and didn't reply when I asked why," He says with a frown.

And now Josh is kind of freaking out a bit. He doesn't remember this at all. He doesn't want to worry Brendon so he works to keep a straight face,

"Oh, I just wanted to walk home, is all," He dismisses, waving a hand.

Brendon snorts, "Fuckin' loser," He says as they pull into the schools parking lot.

Josh stares at the homecoming sign hanging above the door and it suddenly hits him.

He fell asleep in the auditorium last night! He didn't finish setting everything up! Gah, now he's going to have to work his butt off during lunch.

But if Josh fell asleep at school, then how did he get home? And why doesn't he remember getting home?

He shakes his head. He can worry about that later.

He turns to face Brendon and quickly bids him goodbye,

"I forgot something in the gym, I'll see you later!" He calls.

Brendon stares, bewildered as his friend rushes away. He lets out a small breathy laugh before starting his slow walk to class.

Meanwhile, Josh is almost running through the halls to get to the auditorium. But this is an emergency, so he tries not to feel too bad about breaking the rules.

Throwing the doors open, he prepares himself to see a mess; half-finished banners all over the floor, balloons astray everywhere, loose glitter where loose glitter should not be.

Instead, he is surprised to see a very beautiful finished setup.

Large black curtains strung across every inch of wall to give it all a solid, less high-school gym look. Then red drapes elegantly laid overtop, falling from the ceiling in waterfalls.

Velvet red and black rolls of carpet cover the cold floor, feeling nice under Josh's worn out converse.

He takes in all the tables nicely set up. Takes in the perfectly hung banners and large mask cut out around the arch at the entrance.

It's crazy to think that just last night, Josh sat on the blank floor in this room that used to be so very empty, and is now just as perfect as Josh had hoped.

But who did it?

The bell rings, causing Josh to snap out of his daze. He almost curses when he realizes he's going to be late for first period.

Giving the room one last dreamy glance, he sighs and rushes out the door and to math class.
