Nervous is a new feeling for Tyler. The last time he felt so vulnerable was years ago, as of late he's been so used to knowing he has power over people, and it kept him at ease.

But now? He's about to get down on his knees and beg for forgiveness. Grovel. And he's nervous. He doesn't know why Josh's forgiveness is so important but holy shit, it is.

He's waiting to see if the boy is going to show. Josh didn't reply to his text but he did see it, so now Tyler can only hope for the best.

And it's awful. Yuck! Gross! Sitting and waiting for somebody to show up, only to have to beg and cry for a forgiveness you might not even be granted? Tyler hates this.

But he hates not talking to Josh more.

Tyler's neck is starting to sweat. Ew. He wipes it away with a grimace.

His toes curl in his beat-up sneakers and he wants nothing more than to stand and walk away from this wretched place. Hell, maybe he'll skip town. Hitchhike to Arizona and start selling fake crack rocks to teenagers.

It's a good plan that he's tempted to commence, but then from the corner of his eye, an angel appears.

In skinny jeans and a hoodie that is much too big for him and is definitely Brendon's, an angel appears.

Josh has a frown on his face that Tyler is sure he doesn't even notice he's wearing, and it makes Tyler even more guilty.

Josh walks over and sits down in the grass. Tyler can't help but reminisce in the time they first met. In fact, the first time they spoke to one another happened to be in this very spot.

Tyler sits down next to Josh. It's quiet.

Tyler rips at the grass beneath him nervously. Josh slaps his hands away quickly,

"Don't be rude." He scolds.

Tyler pauses, smiling a little.

He looks at Josh who just looks forward, causing Tyler's smile to fade into a simple purse of his lips.

"Josh, I--"

Josh lets out a frustrated sigh, shaking his head, "Tyler, I don't want excuses. Or an apology."

Tyler can't help but let out a small scoff, "Then what do you want?"

Josh grabs Tyler's hand, that had subconsciously started pulling at the grass again,

"I just want you to be honest with me. I want to talk to Tyler. Not Tyler I'll-Beat-Your-Ass Joseph. The real, true Tyler." He says, holding Tyler's hand in a tight grip.

This is Tyler's chance. Tyler's chance to prove he's serious about continuing their friendship, or if he's going to decide being honest with someone is just too much for him.

Tyler stays quiet. He stays quiet, and Josh has his answer.

Josh's hand leaves Tyler's and he feels cold. Before Josh can stand, Tyler is gripping the boy's wrist, a silent plea for him to stay.

Josh bits his lip.

"I don't know." Tyler finally says.

Josh lets out a breath. He furrows his brows and looks at Tyler,

"You don't know what?"

Tyler drops his hand from Josh's wrist. Josh chases it to link their fingers together.

"I don't know who the real, true Tyler is," He says with a nonchalant shrug, but his teeth are gritted.

Josh's shoulder's drop. He sighs in disappointment, releasing Tyler's hand.

"Well, call me when you find out." He says quietly.

Tyler drops his eyes and listens as Josh stands, his feet kicking up some grass as he walks away.

Tyler's gritting his teeth so hard he feels they might start to crack. He lets out a groan and lays down roughly.

His head lands on something hard,

"Ouch," He grumbles, lifting his head to grab the object.

He lets out a low breath as he see's what sits in his palm. A very familiar blue pen stares back at him.

He clenches his fist around it.

God, how is he going to fix this?
