Josh isn't one to brag, but homecoming is going great.
It's beautiful. The lights are hitting all the right places, the set up is still looking magnificent and multiple teachers have come up to Josh and complimented him on it, which he takes full credit for.
Maybe not the best thing to do, but whoever set it up followed his plans to the T! His plans! Josh basically did it.
And Josh is so thankful everyone is following the theme. Everyone is wearing deep shades of red and black, occasionally some white, and their face is covered by a mask. Either lacy, feathery, glittery, rhinestones glues directly to the face— Everyone is wearing a mask and Josh is so proud. Oh, look at that, he's tearing up.
He's watching the dance floor from a distance, standing lonesome in the corner with his velvet mask in his hand.
He sees Brendon walking towards him with a large grin on his face.
"Where is your mask, young man?!" He shouts over the music.
Josh rolls his eyes and holds it up with a little shake. Brendon snatches it from his hand and snaps it on his face, giving Josh a satisfied cheek-pat once it's on.
"Beautiful, handsome, adorable, little boy," He coos, pinching at Josh's cheeks.
Josh blushes and slaps him away, adjusting the mask so it fits over his eyes better.
Brendon laughs, before wrapping his arm around Josh, overlooking the crowded dance floor,
"Looks good, stumpy, good job." He praises, ruffling Josh's already unruly curls.
Josh beams at the praise, leaning into his friend, making the older boy laugh.
"Thank you!" He smiles, briefly running a hand through his hair to assure it's not too messy.
Brendon nods dismissively,
"Why aren't you dancing?" He asks, "Are you keeping watch? Trying to catch that guy in the green tie?" He jokes.
Josh freezes, looking at Brendon, alarmed.
"What? Somebody is wearing a green tie? Where?" He demands, looking out into the dance floor.
Brendon laughs almost nervously, pulling Josh back into his embrace,
"Nowhere, stumpy. I was just messing with you, chill." He laughs.
Josh turns and glares, "I will not! The theme is very clearly red and black! No hooligan should even try wearing green. Barf." He rolls his eyes.
Brendon snorts tugs Josh toward the dance floor,
"Yeah, yeah," He drawls, "Play colour-cop later. For now, get off duty and have some fun, babe. You planned this party, shouldn't you get to enjoy it?" He smiles, batting his eyelashes.
