Anguish, red hot, boiling anguish ran through Naruto's veins shooting into every cell, nerve, and muscle in his body. Red-orange chakra surrounded him like a tornado making his skin feel like it were on fire.
This chakra, it was malicious, evil, and coming from him. His mind was on overload, seeing nothing but the smile that was Hide's, hearing her laughs in his ears, remembering all the unexpected hugs, kisses on cheeks and warmth she providing.
She was fueling this chakra, his grief expanding ten folds cloaking him with the red chakra.
It took him over leaving him conscious but that too was diminishing.
His vision was red, red eyes focused solely on the white porcelain mask in front of him. Naruto was losing the battle going on inside him.
His will vs. the fox's chakra.
His consciousness was slipping, eyes seeing black spots where the mask should be. His surroundings became blurred red for a split second before he shook himself and stood his ground but, his heart pumped more sadness inside.
Nails dug into his palms drawing blood but his body didn't respond to the pain because it was nothing to what his mind was experiencing. His heart, it was the worst part of it all. Each pump felt as if it were fueling more sadness into him. His thoughts were plagued by the memory of Hide.
How he wished to achieve his dream of becoming hokage just to see the sparkling brown eyes on him, of achieving his goal and telling her that her believing in him wasn't a waste. His will to become stronger not just to match Sasuke but to stand by Hide's side and fight alongside her instead of her always protecting him, no he wanted to protect her. But he couldn't even do that, he couldn't do anything but stand behind as she protected him, and now she was...she was-
"Naruto, I love you."
He gasped out and clutched where his heart would be. His knees buckled landing on one knee for support.
He was losing the battle, more black dots encased his vision.
The will inside him was flickering like a dying fire. Naruto could no longer fight this chakra, his own grief and rage pummeled him like bullies.
His leg gave out so he now kneeled with both hands against the metal flooring, his vision going dark.
The last thing his mind came to was the sweet, hopeful lips turned upward in a beaming smile and light brown eyes that held so much love for him.
His safe haven.

The red-orange chakra traveled throughout the bridge informing all who stood that the nine-tailed beast had broken out of its prison to wreak havoc.
Like waves, the chakra glided in small pieces within the air simmering, touching anything that crossed its path.
Kakashi paused his battle with Zabuza in fear of the chakra, wondering of all the times, it had to be now that awoke the beast. Just what could have happened that it went to that level of dangerous?
