"Here goes nothing," Amarédasse said to herself as she looked up towards the surface. Amarédasse then, using all of her strength, swam as fast as she could until she finally reached the surface of the water. At last, Amarédasse, the youngest daughter of Poseidon, saw the sky from the human perspective and finally, for the first time in her life, she felt the warm rays of the sun against her skin. "This feels so amazing, and so much better than I have ever dreamed," Amarédasse thought as she took all of it in. Soon Amarédasse came across a shore that looked very familiar to her. "That beach looks just like the one in my painting," Amarédasse said as it caught her eye. With a wave of her arms, Amarédasse used her magic to transform herself back into her human/goddess form and once she went ashore she began to explore a whole new and different world.
Amarédasse was amazed by all the different flowers and plants that grew on land, the different rocks and minerals, and the different kinds of animals and creatures that she had only read about in books. By exploring the shore and the forests, Amarédasse soon stumbled upon the one thing she had always wanted to see, a human kingdom filled with farms, shops, houses, a beautiful town square with a fountain, temples dedicated to her father, a library, a school, and a magnificent palace with a beautiful garden. Immediately, Amarédasse began to explore and, for the first time in her life, she began to interact with real humans. "Excuse me, ma'am," Amarédasse said to a kindly middle-aged woman. "Yes dear, what is it that you want to know?" the woman asked as if she were talking to an ordinary mortal girl. "I want to know why this kingdom has so many temples dedicated to Poseidon?" Amarédasse asked making sure that she did not give her true identity away. "I see that you are new to the kingdom of Corinth* child," the woman said as Amarédasse nodded in agreement. "The answer is simple child, Poseidon, the God of the Ocean, is this kingdom's patron god, and as long as he is pleased our ships will forever have safe passage across his domain," said the woman. "These temples are also dedicated to his wife and their many children however, if you wish to learn more dear, I suggest you go and learn about the kingdom and its history at the library." "Thank you very much ma'am, I shall," Amarédasse said politely as she made her way to the library.
End of Part Two
*Once more I had to do a little research and apparently not many cities in Ancient Greece made Poseidon their patron god. I tend to think that the thing that Zeus usually gives to Poseidon and Hades to hold a lot is pretty much the short end of the stick.
