Chapter 12: Secret

"So, Andrew told me that the MTV awards are soon.", I say, coming into the office in Grace's apartment. I've been staying over here more lately. Let me stop lying, I've been staying here every night that we've been home.

"Oh, really? That's awesome.", she says. "Does that mean you are performing?" I nod in response. "Yeah, it does. It also means we have to go pick out our outfits. We will be doing that in a couple of weeks.", I say, sitting next to her.

"Okay, that sounds good.", she nods. "Also, I have a surprise for you.", I say. "Okay, what is it?", she asks, excitedly smiling. "Well, we have to go there. So, go get dressed. Casual." She frowns and lays down in my lap, looking up at me. "But, Shawn. Please, you know I absolutely hate surprises.", she says giving me puppy dog eyes. I laugh.

"You only hate surprises because you like to know everything. Once you know it, you're fine. You will live. Be ready in an hour, we are gonna be out all day.", I say, laughing. She rolls her eyes and hops up, going to her room.

Oh, Shawn. He sure does love to spoil me. I don't know how I got so lucky.

I look through my closet, looking for casual wear. Sundress? No, I don't feel like wearing that. Flannel? Nah, not in the mood. Dang, I have so much casual wear, yet I don't know what to wear. I see a yellow sweater that catches my eyes. Ohh, I could tie that in with some black boots and light jeans.

I grab my purse and close the door to my room. "Shawn?", I ask as I climb down the stairs. "In here, hun!", he yells from the kitchen. I make my way to the kitchen and see him putting a lid on my coffee cup. A smile spreads across my face. "Thank you, honey." "Anything for my girl." I walk around the island in the middle of the kitchen and wrap my arms around his waist, giving him a hug. He sighs and wraps his arms around my shoulders, kissing my forehead.

He tilts my face up to his and kisses me. I hold onto his shirt tightly and kiss him back. For the first time ever, Shawn is the one to pull away. I give him a look of surprise. "Huh. I'm usually the first to pull away. You know I'm not a big person for affection.", I laugh. He chuckles. "I know. I'm the hopeless romantic in this relationship. I would love to continue what we were doing, and you know I would, but I want to bring you on our date!", he says excitedly, pulling me towards the door.

I laugh as he runs to the car, dragging me behind him. He opens my door, "My lady." "Thank you, my dear lover boy.", I say, patting his cheek. He runs to the drivers side and hops in. "I'm liking these Hunger Games references.", he says, turning the car on. "I say them when they are needed. So, where are we going?", I say leaning on the console, putting a hand under my chin.

He pokes my nose. "It's a surprise, dodo. I told you this." "But, Shawn I-" "I know you hate surprises, blah, blah, blah. But this is something worth being surprised for." I roll my eyes playfully and nod in agreement. "Okay. I'm trusting you." "Why wouldn't you?", he says playfully.

"Okay, Grace, close your eyes. We are close to being here.", Shawn says, grabbing my hand and putting it over my eyes. I keep my hand covering my eyes, even though I really wanna peak.

"Okay, open your eyes." I open my eyes and see a bunch of RVs in front of me. "Oh okay! We are at an RV park.", I say pretending, hopefully good, that I'm excited.

"Grace, read the sign right in front of it." "Mobile Book Stores.", she squints at the sign. Her eyes widened immediately. "Oh my gosh, are those RVs filled with books?", she asks me excitedly. I nod my head.
