"Oohh.", I say, looking Shawn up and down, him wearing a white tank top with a light denim jacket over it, black skinny jeans, and his signature black boots. "I should say the same to you.", he says, wrapping his arms around me from behind. "I like this outfit. Like a lot.", he says, resting his chin on my shoulder. I'm wearing a
"Hey, your shirt matches your nails.", Shawn says, holding up my hand. "They do.", I laugh. "You did that on purpose.", Shawn states. I laugh again. "No, I didn't. It just kinda happened.", I say, grabbing my purse.
"You ready?", I ask. "I'm usually the one having to ask you that.", he says, shocked. "Not this time.", I say, grabbing his hand and we walk out of his room. "Where are y'all going?", Karen says, as we walk in the living room. "Bryan's having a get together tonight. We'll be back later.", Shawn says, going over and kissing her cheek.
"Have fun.", she says and we walk out to his car. "Let me drive.", I say. "Okay.", he says, handing me the keys. "Wait, really? I was kidding.", I laugh. "You can. I trust you.", he says. "You trust me with your beloved car? That's so sweet.", I say, taking the keys and getting in the drivers side.
"Shotgun.", Shawn says, getting in the passenger seat, causing me to laugh. "What?", he asks. "It's just funny, because nobody else is here, so obviously you get shotgun." He laughs and says, "When it left my mouth, I immediately thought I sounded stupid."
"Mm, just a tiny bit.", I say, turning on the car and backing out of the driveway. "Can you tell me where to go?", I ask. "Oh, yeah, sure.", Shawn says, putting in the address on the GPS so I can see the directions.
After about 8 minutes, we pull up to what I am assuming is Brian's house. "Hey, my friends are here!", Shawn says, seeing all the other cars in the driveway.
He gets out of the car, opens my car door, and grabs my hand. "Ready?", he asks. I lock the car and say, "Ready." We walk up the driveway to the house and Shawn opens the door.
"MENDES!", I hear yelled. "BRIAN!", Shawn shouts as Brian greets us. "Man, I've missed you!", Shawn says, giving him a bro hug. "Too long. It's been too long.", Brian says, then looks at me.
"My, my, my. This is the famous Grace I hear about all the time. And when I say all the time, I literally mean all the time.", he says, smiling. I smile. "Hey, Brian."
"It's so nice to finally meet you.", he says, giving me a side hug. "I've heard a lot about you, too.", I laugh.  "Uh oh. I'm hoping good things.", he says, looking at Shawn.
"Eh.", Shawn says, laughing. "I'm kidding, man. All things that are good." Brian laughs and takes a sip of his drink. "Shawn, Grace, everybody is going to want to see you! Come on.", he says, walking out of the foyer, us following him.
"Shawn!", his friends say as he walks in the door. "Grace!", I hear, turning my head in the direction of the voice, seeing Lauren. "Damn, you look good, girl.", she says. I smile and look at my outfit. "Thanks. You do, too." She smiles. "You look nervous." she chuckles. "Yeah, I have no clue who any of these people are. Just me being awkward."
She links arms with me. "Well, let's go get you some new friends, eh?" I smile and nod.
---------------------
"Everybody, come to the living room, it's time to play some games.", Brian yells. "Oh, games.", I say, grabbing Shawn's hand and walking towards the living room. "Not the type of games you're mature enough for.", Ava says, pushing between me and Shawn, causing our hands to break away from each other.
I roll my eyes, trying to ignore her and sit on the couch, Shawn sitting next to me. "Sorry about her.", he says, putting an arm around me. "What's new? She's never going to be normal and be nice.", I say, plastering a fake smile.
He kisses my head comfortingly. "Ah, Shawn and Grace, these games might not work for y'all.", Brian says. "Told you.", Ava smirks. I roll my eyes. "We are up for some games. What are they?", Shawn asks. "7 minutes in heaven, spin the bottle. The works." "Well, we can play as long as Grace is always my partner.", Shawn chuckles. My cheeks turn a crimson color.
Brian thinks. "We usually make whoever the bottle lands on, go with that person, but we can make an acception for you, lovebirds.", Brian winks. "Who wants to go first?" he asks. "Wait, what are we playing?" Ian asks. "Oh, spin the bottle." Brian puts the bottle down on the table.
"Me." Lauren says, the bottle spinning, then landing on Brian. She leans over and kisses him. My eyes widen, not expecting that. Ava laughs. "You've never seen someone kiss before? Aw, sweet thing." "Okay, knock it off.", Shawn says to her. "What? We're just having a little fun, aren't we, Gracie?", she asks, making me pissed simply because I hate that "nickname".
"Seriously, Ava, leave her alone. Let's just keep playing the game.", Shawn says. "Your turn.", Brian says to Ava. She spins the bottle, it of course landing on Shawn.
Ava smiles and gets up, but Shawn stops her. "Ava, you seriously think I'm going to kiss you?" "Um, yeah. It landed on you. That's the rules, silly." "Ava. Shawn and I are together.", I say. This girl can NOT catch a hint.
"I know that. But, what's the harm in a tiny kiss?" "If it's so tiny, why do it.", Lauren says. "Okay, let's just stop playing. Because obviously, Ava isn't going to leave Grace and Shawn alone." Brian says, getting up.
"Great idea." Shawn says, grabbing my hand and we walk into the kitchen. "Want a drink?" he asks me. I nod. "After that shitshow? Yeah, definitely." I grab a cup, filling it with a punch that contains alcohol and hopefully a lot of it.
"Honey, I'm sorry about her." Shawn says, putting his head in the crook of my neck. I smile to myself at his cute gesture. I rub his back. "Love, it's okay. It's not your fault. Let's just forget about her and enjoy our night, eh?" I ask, kissing his cheek when he lifts his face up.
"I got you to start saying eh." he chuckles. I laugh and nod. "Yes, you did, my darling."
------------------------------
I pull Shawn along with me to one of Brian's guest bedrooms. "Where are we going?" Shawn asks, his words slurred. His arms are slung loosely around my waist, his head on my shoulder. It's pretty hard walking down the hallway with him drunk and on me. Ha, the things I do for this boy.
I open the door and guide Shawn over to the bed. He plops down and closes his eyes. I start rummaging through my purse, looking for headache medication, knowing well enough he probably is feeling terrible. "Babe." I turn around looking at shawn. He has an arm thrown over his eyes. "Shawn, go to sleep, hon.",  I say gently. "Baby-" "I'll join you in a second." "Will you listen, woman?", he chuckles. I smile. Even when he's drunk, he still has that sense of humor that makes me weak.
"Yes, what's wrong?", I ask. He rubs his head. "It hurts. So very bad." I hate getting drunk. I can imagine what he is going through. That's why I didn't drink too much tonight.
I grab the painkillers I was looking for and a bottle of water I grabbed from the kitchen. I go to him and make him sit up. "Take these. They should numb the pain, but I can't guarantee anything. You should probably get some sleep. Sorry to say this, but you will feel worse in the morning." He takes the medicine and says "Hey, mrs. goodie-two shoes. How do you know all about that? I thought you were no risk taker." "You know you've pulled me out of that. And I've had my fair share of rough nights."
He grabs me by the waist, ever so carefully, and places me in bed next to him. He hovers above me and traces his hands along my skin. "Why don't you help me through one of mine?", he whispers. I wrap my arms around his neck. "Of course." He trails kisses down from my neck to my collarbone. I tangle my hands in his hair, tugging it when he hits my sweet spot.
He places his hands on my bare skin and trails the kisses all the way back up to my lips. He kisses my lips and I feel like we are kissing for the first time again. Our lips move in sync and he bites my lip softly. I open my mouth slightly and he slides his tongue in my mouth. He pulls away to take off his shirt and then places his hands on my skin once again and kisses my neck. His cold hands trace the skin on my stomach and I gasp.
I can feel him smile beneath my skin and he trails the kisses back up to my ear. He kisses behind my ear and tugs on my shirts.

That's when it hit me. He's drunk. We shouldn't be doing this.

"Sh-Sh-Shawn, we shouldn't be doing this.", I say with a shaky voice. "But, baby. I want you." "Shawn, you're drunk. It doesn't feel right.", I say to him. He sighs and lays next to me. "Alright. I respect that." "Thank you.", I say quietly. "I feel bad cause I ruined the moment." He wraps his arms around me and rests his head on my chest. "Angel, you didn't. Our moment was already over. That came out wrong. We had already had our moment." I nod my head.
"You know, Grace.", he says after a while. "I don't think you understand how much I love you." I smile. "I love you, too."
"No, you don't understand. You are the light in a bad day. Whenever I have a bad day with the music, I see you and I just feel the weight being lifted off of my shoulders when I see you. I've never been happier than I am with you. Even my family noticed. Aaliyah's texted me before and said I looked truly happy in the pictures I posted of us. I really am.
'Before I met you, I had a majors writers block. My songwriters wrote most of my songs. When I met you, the ideas came flowing in. All I wanted to do was write my songs. About you. You were the muse in the back of my mind. You still are. You're all I think about.
'All I care about is you. I'm a very observant person. When you're around me, I watch everybody to make sure you are okay, that people are nice to you, all that jazz. Yeah, it sounds stupid and I sound like a stalker, but I don't care. I do care for you, though.
'You are my everything. All I care about in the world is you. You, you, you. I wanna make you feel loved, cared for, feel beautiful, feel special, because you are all of those things. All those things and more. Much, much, more, baby. So much more.
'I've never felt the way I feel about you, about any other girl. Yeah, I've dated other girls, have felt strongly, but never felt what I feel now. It's not that I love you. I'm in love with you, there's a difference. A big one that is.
'You make me who I am today and I don't want to change. I love where I am at in life. I love where we are in life. You have made our lives amazing. Grace, I love you so much, darling. Please don't leave me. Don't ever leave."
I feel the tears trickle down my face before I realize I am crying. No one has ever said anything so meaningful to me. I open my mouth to respond but close it when I hear Shawn's soft snores.
I smile. "Oh, Shawn.", I say, placing a kiss on his head. "Gosh, you're my everything, too. I can't imagine a life without you. I want to stay this great forever. Shawn, I want, oh how I want. I want to be yours forever. I want you to be mine. I want us to last a lifetime. Gosh, I love you so much, baby.", I kiss his cheek and scooch down so I can lay my head back on the pillows. He wraps his arms tighter around my waist and snuggles his head closer on my stomach. I sigh and run my hands through his hair.
How can someone drunk speak such great words? I guess 'drunk minds speak sober thoughts' is true.
